Once I was able to use them, immediately I noticed they were much more flimsy than what I'd had before, but never the less gave them a try. They will hold the cover, but once you get a little rain and wind it's over. They won't hold up unless you run straps through them. We had a decent monsoon storm, went out to check on the boat the next day and the poles were laying down and the cover was filled with a large pool of water. After that the poles wouldn't hardly stay straight under their own weight.
