## Overview

Jacquard iDye Poly in Kelly Green is a 14g heat-activated dye designed specifically for synthetic fibers like polyester and nylon. Delivered in a mess-free soluble packet, it bonds permanently at near-boiling temperatures, enabling vibrant, durable color transformations on fabrics, plastics, and even 3D printed objects. Ideal for creative professionals and DIY enthusiasts looking to refresh or customize synthetic materials with ease and precision.

## Description

iDye Poly is for synthetic fibers such as polyester and nylon. It will color almost anything synthetic, including plastics and acrylics, buttons, Frisbee discs, 3D printed objects, toys, dolls, wigs, urethane coatings and more The dye comes in a dissolvable packet, so there are never any messy powders to handle: simply drop the packet in a pot of water, add your fabric or objects and bring to a boil For fabric blends containing blended fabrics that contain both synthetic and natural fibers, use iDye Natural with the corresponding iDye Poly color at the same time. Or use a two different complementing colors to create a two-tone effect.

Review: So I love my sofa but it was a freebie and the colour, though lovely, isn’t me. I’d been thinking of re-covering it but it’s a great fabric and I thought if only I could just dye it… I’m no stranger to dyeing natural fibres but I’ve always seen synthetics as beyond my reach so I looked into those fabric paints you can buy that people often use to change the colour of chairs and sofas, but the finish always looks patchy and it takes forever and multiple coats, etc, I didn’t fancy that. So I decided to try experimenting with synthetic dyes. The manufacturer stresses that for it to work your dye bath needs to be at near boiling temperatures for a prolonged period for the dye to bond with polyester, I think you’re essentially melting the dye into the plastic fibres. It’s strongly advised that use a stovetop method, however these are big pieces of fabric and I don’t have pots that big enough. There’s a 90* wash on my machine though so I figured it was worth a bash for £7. It was an agonising two and a half hours excitedly waiting to see if the dye would take but I am thrilled to report that it did. It was as easy as putting a wash cycle on, the dye is in powder form and comes in a soluble packet so I chucked that in the drum, emptied the contents of the colour activator in with it and a tiny squirt of washing up liquid just to help get the dye into the pile of the velvet. It did dye some of the plastic elements in the drum and I wouldn’t advise putting the dye in your detergent drawer as this might also change colour. But if I understand correctly that dye shouldn’t leach out, it’s now permanently bonded with the plastic so no drama there. I can’t say how durable it is in practice but based on that premise it should last just as well as whatever the original colour was. This is not for the faint hearted but if you’re open to the possibility it might not work out go for it! I’m ordering more now and will have to tackle removing the fixed upholstery from my sofa so that I can repeat the process for the whole thing. Think it all through before you set out, be prepared for what could go wrong and might just end up with something beautiful!
Review: The die worked well to dye my golf balls I bought pink and Kelly green, the pink came out as expected but the green was definitely darker than I had thought. That being said it worked very well and the balls came out great. Different balls come out different shades which I kind of like.

Nice green colour. Have boiled the water in a big pot..added the colour.. waited a bit, to make sure everything was dissolved. The water have to be arround 100 degrees to be sure, that The colour works. Was a bit surprised that my tulle skirt survived this hot colour bath..but after one hour in the pot- all green. The shirt made of viscose ended up much lighter than my skirt tulle and polyester. Have seen different YouTube videos and the very hot water is importent to make it work. Also written in the manual.
