If I place a unit for each speaker wire directly will this stop ground loop hum?** A: Depends , what I have noticed with my system is the hum has more to do with how your system is wired. To be honest it actually killed some of my bass. Hope this helps. **Q: Are the female connectors the input or output? Or maybe direction doesn't matter?** A: The female connectors are usually used as the input because the RCA cables are already run from the head unit to the amplifier using a male to male cable. And then you find out there is hum that needs to be eliminated. The female side allows the existing cable to be used by unplugging the RCA cable from the amplifier and plugging into this noise filter and then the noise filter male connectors plug into the amplifier. Electronically it should work with either side as the input because it is a passive filter. But I've never needed to use male connector as the input because I always put the noise filer as close to the amplifier as possible.
