Koss QZ-99 Noise Reduction Stereophone GREAT HEADPHONES!
Wow, just WoW! .. These are like the ear protection we used in the military.. we called them micky mouse ears.. they were hard plastic cups that encased the ears with sound silencing materials lining the inside. If you combined micky mouse ears with the little plastic insert ear plugs you became effectively deaf.. well tehse headphones are like mickey mouse ears with speakers installed. They passivly block external sounds thru extremely effective sound silencing. and the audio is not bad either. the cable is curly so it does not get caught up in my chair's wheels or drag on the floor.. yet it has the reach where i can stand up and move around the room a bit so i love the cord.. love the headphones.. the ONLY draw back is they do put some pressure on your head. and being a bit airtight you might sweat in a hot environment. bottom line is tho i have found the love of my life when it comes to headphones. I really like these headphones, they are high quality construction. They sound great too but i'm no sound expert. They are over the ear.. except they rest on the bottom of my earlobes.. update: july 2015, well the adustable volume makes the left ear drop out.. you have to spin the volume back and forth like your wearing thru the corrosion on the resistor parts so it gets a good connection. The wires are solid.. the connections are solid.. I believe this intermittant left ear connection is in the variable resistor itself.. not in a faulty wire or connection. So sadly we go from a 5 to something less due to they used a cheap part.. which cheapened what would otherwise be a first class product. I know this product is discontinued so perhaps this was why. bottom line is the left ear is dropping out and i have to mess with the volume knob to restore the left ear sounds. i might try the upgraded version of this and pray they aren't using the same part that is failing here.

Solid sound, solid noise isolation, solid all around.
In 20 or so years of playing music, I’ve gone through a lot of headphones. I’ve usually been ok with them, nothing really to write home about. They make the noise go into my ears and keep the noises I don’t want in, out. I had the Vic Firth version of these and, while my melon is obnoxiously large, they still fit tight. They sounded fine, nice and flat but good quality and kept the noise out. These Koss cans? Blows the Vic Firths out of the water. The volume control is awesome, the cable length is perfect, comes with a spare 1/4” adapter, the sound is nice and flat but still vibrant and good for critical listening, the squishy bit on the bottom of the head band is awesome (it’ll be sad when that dies in a few years) and the muffs fit snug, as well as the noise reduction being that perfect split between cutting the harsh while still letting the wearer hear the important stuff. Its still a smidge right but the squish and ear cups mitigate that a lot and allow me to keep them on for a while practice without whining. I may end up getting another pair just in case these die before their time.

Excellent Product/Very Reasonable Price!
The Koss QZ-99 headphones are excellent. They're built like a Russian dump truck. The quality sound reproduction is outstanding!! These over the ear headphonesare great at "locking out" extraneous noises. They do this not through electronic noise cancellation, but through "ear protector" technology. That is, they are like industrial ear muffs with sound. They fit snug on your ears, and block out annoying outside noise. I bought mine for business use. I'm a private investigator, and use them to listen to recorded statements etc. Often these recordings are made under far less than optimal conditions (in restaurants/vehicles etc with lots of background noise). I bought these headphones so that I could focus closely on the recordings. One mis-interpreted word in a transcription of a recorded statement can have MAJOR detrimental effects! These headphones fit the bill. I love them! I also use them for music and watching movies. They have a built-in volume switch, and can be switched from mono to stereo with a built-in line switch. I recently flew on a commercial airline flight with hese headphones, and they made the flight much more enjoyable. The headphones blocked most of the cabin noise and allowed me to watch a DVD inflight. These headphones aren't for everyone. If you're looking for a wimpy little headset that you can stuff in your jacket pocket, look elsewhere! If you're looking for a pair of heavy-duty headphones that will block out outside noise, have much better sound reproduction than you'd expect, and want excellent value for money, these are for you! I hope you enjoy yours as much as I enjoy mine! My direct email is: [email protected].

Good sound reproduction. Good acoustic isolation. Good value for the price.
My all time favorite headset was a Koss Pro4AA, which I bought in about 1972. I have been searching for a true replacement for a long time. I tried a Koss Pro4AA Titanium, and was greatly disappointed. Primarily because they have very poor acoustic isolation even though they are a sealed over the ear unit. I have also tried a vast number of wired and wireless earbud units. The best one I have found was a KLIPSCH R5 neckband unit, which also fails the isolation requirement. All this brings me to the Koss QZ-99. This unit reproduces the high end of the spectrum as well as any unit I have tried. My test playlist sounds the way it is supposed to sound in that range. If I has an equalizer on my iPad to pump up the bass for my preference I would rate this unit the equal of my Pro4AA in its prime. Why do I say that? This unit provides acoustic isolation equal to that provided by my deluxe shooting ear protectors. I can hear my music or my ball game, without nagging my wife to turn down her mystery on Hallmark, or her shopping spree on QVC. This unit is well constructed and well made, read that as heavy. They seem like they will be in it for the long haul. Yet they are well padded in the ear cushions and the headband. I like these headphones. I think you will also.

Better options exist
Wanted a budget pair of headphones for my PS4. I've had a pair of ATH-M40x at my PC for years, but the soundstage was unimpressively narrow when plugged into the PS4 controller. I was hoping these would perform well enough, and in terms of sound quality alone, they do. Unfortunately, they're just too uncomfortable for long-term use, and I've replaced them in the short-term with the cheaper Samson SR850, which sacrifice a little sound quality, isolation, and soundstage width to provide an preferably bassy and far more comfortable experience. Pros: Noise isolation is fantastic Sound quality is excellent for the price Wide soundstage Volume control knob is easy to use, features notched detents, and does not feel flimsy Sturdy Cons: Heavy and bulky, especially to put on and remove Initially comfortable, but a little too snug and a little too warm for long-term use Understated low-end expression limits practical applications Neither: In-line stereo/mono switch is a strange feature to include on headphones, no? Owing to the modestly respectable sound quality and noise isolation, this might be a decent option for beginner bedroom production or as a backup pair, but it's too uncomfortable for a "professional quality" daily driver that sees more than an hour of regular use. There isn't enough going on in the bottom end to recommend it for quick casual use for gaming or other media. If you're looking for decent quality phones that don't emphasize the bassline and only need them occasionally; if you don't mind chunky phones that offer a thinner sound, then these might fit the bill. I think the majority of people should look elsewhere.

Still recommend it, but not a uninform fit for everyone
I have had mine for 8 years, and I still reach for them from time to time. I recommend them because it is a tight fit, good isolation, and decent enough value. I don't recommend them to some because they are tight (I can't wear my for more than a couple of hours), audio quality is not the best for the headsets I have around the house. But great for doing radio work, or in a busy area. Issues I am having after 8 years. The volume knob is touchy and shorting out. The vinyl ear muffs are worn out (actually looking to replace them now). If those two problems were sorted out, then I would grab them more.

Not suitable for live/rehearsal/studio band monitoring
These would be nice but the frequency response totally omits the lower frequencies. I'd say anything below 200hz or so is nearly gone. You can't hear kick drum or floor tom or bass guitar. Middle and high tom, cymbals/snare, guitar, vox all ok. The bassist can't use to hear himself and the lack of kick drum representation means basically nobody can use because you can't follow the beat well. I will have to get something else. The passive isolation seems good, the on-ear volume knob is nice, and I didn't yet notice quality issues beyond the missing frequencies. But I was sadly disappointed and had to make last minute EQ hacks (adding upwards of 20db below 200hz and still could barely hear anything in that range) for drummer and bassist monitor output channels to survive band practice, barely. The documentation says the frequency response is 40hz-20khz. IMO that is a flat out lie. More like 200hz or even higher before it outputs a decent signal. I would expect a better, more even response from ANY headphone product these days so I say the low rating is appropriate.

Really Like All the Features - No Negatives
I am really so very gratified to have these wonderful headphones, they do everything I want and more. I really wanted a one-wire headphone with an integrated volume, which these are. The added features of a long cord and an integrated stereo-mono switch makes them even better. Do not hesitate to buy these headphones. Love the volume control on one side, protruding from the outer phone, in the form of a knurled knob that simply twists in either direction to increase or silence the volume. GREAT FEATURE. This feature makes other phones with a volume control integrated into the wire seem silly, it's so much easier to reach up to one ear and twist the volume control without any fumbling. Really like the mono/stereo switch that is integrated into the wire, which is a one-wire design, hanging from the left ear. I prefer the mono setting for listening to podcasts and watching videos. Also some videos have mismatched stereo sound and setting the input to 'mono' fixes that and equalizes the volume to both phones on both ears. Like the combination coiled/straight one-sided wire. Very long, enough to provide lots of freedom of movement and it is almost impossible to get the cord tangled up in anything while wearing these phones. DISLIKE: I only am frustrated that I did not buy these sooner. I've been using the KOSS UR20s for years now, without ever discovering these. If only I had known about these sooner. I've gone through several KOSS UR20s and these would have been so much better. Some users note that the tension on these phones is tight, but I find that it is a good feature to have them very snug. When it feels very tight I gently pull the springs/phones apart from each other and it temporarily loosens them, which helps if wearing them for several hours. It is still possible to forget they're on, noting that, even if they are snug they're are not bone-crushingly tight. The UR20s are looser but get more uncomfortable than these, the cups on these are large enough to cover the entire ear and they do not hurt after long listening sessions. I highly recommend these headphones. Don't hesitate to purchase these, especially if you liked the KOSS UR20s. They are a world apart from the UR20.

totalmente inmersivo
totalmente inmersivo, si necesitas estar pendiente de algun sonido exterior mejor usa ota cosa. Te sumerge y bloquea todos los sonidos exteriores. Aprietan un poco la cabeza, si eres muy sensible o cabezón busca otra opción.

Like it so far, nice and sturdy, recommended for professionals.
Got it for my metal detector, very nice quality of structure. I use it 4-6 hours in a row, a bit heavy, but i don't feel any pressure on my head or fatigue. For those who wants to use it as a music headphones, first - check if your player device will be able to handle its 60 homs, if your devise has no equalizer probably you not gonna be happy ;-) My mac plays great, no issues at all. I never go over 60-70% of the volume level. Everything that KOSS published at an official web-page meets with what i've got. So, i would recommend it, but only if you know how to use it.
