Bondhus 31834 Long Length Star-Tipped L-Wrenches, 8 Piece Set, sizes T9-T40

I just received these wrenches and had to get this review up. I have a mountain bike that has disc brakes. The brake rotors are affixed to the hub with T25 screws. So, I decided I should clean and service the hub which meant removing the rotor. I didn't have to remove it, but getting grease or finger oils on the rotor is a bad thing. So, I have a set of Torx bits I bought from a warehouse store, kind of a depot for home stuff. Okay? These tools are their house brand, named after a breed of dog. I got the bit, put it into the driver handle and set about applying torque... And the bit slipped in the screw! I was horrified as I imagined the screw being rounded off and never being able to remove my rotor. So, I put that driver away immediately. I wasn't getting it anywhere near my bike. I went to Amazon and ordered these. I am under the impression that Park Tools, a name synonymous with quality bicycle tools, has their own Torx wrenches manufactured by Bondhus, though I don't know for sure. In any case, I knew Bondhus made good L wrenches. I didn't hesitate. I just finished removing all the star bolts from my rotor. The one that had been damaged was scary. The wrench fit precisely into every other bolt on the rotor. (There are six, total.) But, when I went to put it in the one that got rounded, the wrench wouldn't fit. So, I got a hammer. I know, you're thinking this has a bad ending. But, wait. I carefully lined up the wrench with the shape of the star and gently tapped the wrench until it set in properly. I tapped a few more times, harder. Then, finally, I hit it pretty well. Setting down the hammer, I took two hands, applying plenty of downward force, and turned the wrench. With a snap, the bolt came loose! These wrenches are so good that they, in this case, saved a damaged bolt head!!! I just went and bought a set of metric L wrenches and will likely get rid of the "dog set" I bought. You can't substitute for quality. And, if you try to, you run the risk of ruining your stuff. I strongly recommend these wrenches. They are not very long, though. The longest is about five inches.

Bondhus makes some of the finest hex and Torx tools around. The cheap stuff may be "good enough" for the average Harry Homeowner but if you use your tools frequently on machinery, bikes, cars, or whatever else frequently and hard enough, you'll understand the difference you're getting when you buy Bhondus tools. I've got dozens of different Bondhus tools in various configurations and I continue to buy them because they are excellent quality with great fit and tolerances, made in the USA, and sold at fair prices. I own at least 4 sets of this exact tool, as they are affordable enough to be able to leave in separate tool boxes or toll bags for convenience. Much like their torx screw drivers and T handles, these L wrenches are excellent and I'm looking forward to putting my newest set to use. My only complaint is that I really wish these came with the GoldGuard finish for corrosion resistance like their GoldGuard finish Allen wrenches. When you work around water based cutting fluids or automotive coolant, you need to make sure these are totally dry or they may eventually corrode. The gold plated ones are awesome, but aside from the plating, the fit of the star and the steel quality is excellent.

Always have been good tools, but I found that they are available for less $$ elsewhere.

Bondhus always a winner! This is a great little set. It's portable, they work well and are always made well by Bondhus. I recommend them and a couple other brands with great ease and expect them to perform well. If you need this type/design of set, get it.

I just love bondus tools. What else do you need to know. This is what a lot of bike shops use, and there is a reason for it
