The unoccupied unheated building temperature will be below 0 deg F.** A: There should be a cutoff valve going into the house from the water source. The whole house should be drained if it is going to be 0 deg. It should be easy to unscrew the input and output connections to the water heater. (they should be connected via flexible tubing to the water lines). Performance is undeniably great and beat my expectations. It provides consistent temperature regardless of how long the unit is running for, unlike the 40 gallon electric tank system that it replaced. It has a pretty small footprint. It has not been installed long enough to notice any changes on the utility bill but even if it stays even, this unit is still a win.Installation was easy and straight forward. One piece of advise I would give to the do-it yourselfers is to avoid using copper fittings for connecting to the unit, I could not get a tight seal with copper on the stainless fittings, regardless of plumbers putty or tape. I ended up using brass fittings along with the putty and that solved the problem. The electrical was easy, ample room to install the wires inside the unit. The instructions were clear if you had at least some prior experience with electrical and plumbing.Do not under size, follow the manufacturers recommendations. I have 7 and sometimes 8 people using hot water daily and find this unit is sufficiently sized for my needs without any change in temperature.I reviewed and compared many units before choosing this one, partly because of the positive feedback I have seen, but also that the manufacturer provided a lot of responses and practical help, for any who had any issue at all.It cost me near as much to install as it did to buy (even doing it myself), due to the additional electrical wiring I had to install and plumbing changes. This unit will draw up to a 100A when in use, make sure your electric service has enough amps to support it and your box has enough room for the 3 40A double breakers you will need to add. I have a 200 amp service. I will say that while in operation, any LED lights you have will a little "flicker", not bad, but enough to notice. I do not find that the case with any other type of light bulb, just the LED bulbs.As for purchasing experience, I ordered it around noon and upgraded to next day delivery. The unit was delivered by 9AM the next morning. Great service. I could have purchased this unit at Home Depot for around the same price, but was told that it would be 7 to 10 days for delivery even to the store. ### ⭐⭐⭐ 3.0 out of 5 stars Works well *by M***7 on Reviewed in the United States on September 17, 2018* I just had this unit installed two weeks ago, so time will tell how reliable and/or efficient it is. So far it has worked well.Update 2/19/19 - Have been using this unit for awhile now. I reduced it's rating by one star because the temperature control does not work up to par. When I take a shower the water temperature initially comes out scolding hot, even though I have the temperature set to 105 degrees. After about one minute the water temperature self adjusts to the 105 it is set at.
