I've had the J.A. Henckels Opus flatware set for ten years, not but one minor issue, waterspots(fixed). I pre-rinse everything, never leave food caked on. They were used in a plastic tub dishwasher for six years and currently a stainless steel tub dishwasher for 4 years. In the plastic tub I used Palmolive liquid detergent with liquid Jet Dry dispensed. They were always sparkling, squeaky clean and shiny. Slick. The last 4 years I moved and now have a stainless steel dishwasher. At first there were issues with water spots even using Jet Dry. My Dishwasher manufacturer GE, suggested Finish "All in One tablets" and to continue with Jet Dry in the dispenser. That solved it. Flash forward several years and recently over the last few months I've noticed major rust spots on my butter knives. Now I open the dishwasher and hand dry my flatware before the dry cycle only to open my drawer and see rust spots all over almost every single piece of flatware. Discoloration is an issue too. Guess I got my $250 use in a decade. Still in love with my set after all these years, but I WILL NOT put up with rust issues. Not the end of the world yet still a little heartbreaking, I really love the design, function and simplicity. **Q: Are the knives sharp enough to cut steak?** A: They are very sharp and cut steak well. I was skeptical because of their light weight, but they have been very satisfactory. **Q: Description says "mirror finish" yet it looks like a brushed finish. I'd prefer the latter. Which is it?** A: Definately mirror finish. I usually prefer brushed as well but this set looks nicer and more stately with the mirror finish. **Q: Is made in China stamped on the flatware or is it just on the box?** A: It's NOT stamped on the dinner knives, but "China" is stamped very tiny on the back of the handle on the spoons & forks.
