V-Blade Mandoline

BE CAREFUL. Do not use without the safety handle. Like many other reviews I suffered an injury. Using the safety handle it sliced like a dream. Super sharp, fast, and almost no time or effort. Sliced a perfect onion. I wondered why I had gone so long without one. Then thought I would quickly try a cabbage without the safety handle and it took off my fingertip. Use slowly and with caution. I think it will work on basically anything.

So far I’ve only used it to slice tomatoes and if that’s all I use it for the price (very good) was worth it. Beat in mind this slicer is compact. It will handle about the size of a baseball, maybe a little larger. Also know it doesn’t do really thick slices, the largest about 1/4 inch. That’s perfect for me and what I like is you get an even slice, with a knife one edge is always thicker than the other. The blade is very sharp, stay away! Use a firm enough hold to keep the item on the track and slice with one consistent motion. With a bit of trial and error, you will get great slices. Not dishwasher safe but it easily handles washes and you can carefully blot it dry. Remember, the blade is sharp!

**** GENERAL **** This is my second purchase of this Cuisinart slicer. I like its operation simplicity. There are no blades to swap for different thickness of the food item being sliced. There is a built-in blade height adjustment. Optional built-in julienne blades are included and are retractable when not in use. For safety during storage all blades are retractable. See photos. I sliced food items such as potatoes and tomatoes. The blade is sharp enough to handle hard and soft items. The only maintenance required is to wash after use. The product description on the Amazon product page says “Product Care Instructions Hand Wash Only”. But... the printed text on the product box says “Dishwasher safe. Hand-wash for best results.” See photos. Since this slicer is made of stainless steel and plastic the only issue I can think of is a HEATED DISH WASHING CYCLE may damage the plastic. I don't use the heated cycle and had no problems using my dishwasher with my first Cuisinart slicer. **** DURABILITY **** My first Cuisinart slicer broke after about two years of use. I tossed it assuming after this period of time the warranty was expired. This was a mistake. I have several Cuisinart small appliances and gadgets. Compared to many other manufactures they have excellent warranties such as my Cuisinart K-Cup coffee maker has a three year warranty. After reading the details I discovered his slicer has a lifetime warranty. Check the included paper manual for warranty details or go to Cuisinart's website and download the manual. This slicer is consumer grade as expected. In my opinion the days of high quality for an average price are gone forever no matter what brand is at stake. I decided to order another Cuisinart slicer because of the warranty. I contacted Cuisinart by phone (yes, a voice call) in the past and was satisfied with the support. Most of the no-brand-name slicers have no warranty.

Unfortunately, my food pusher arrived broken. It is just plastic and was cracked. I did not use it this particular one. I will say that Amazon was kind enough to give me a full refund for the item and I did not need to ruturn it. I did have an old food pusher from a previous purchase, (not the best) but I wanted to test the blades. They did work well and there is a nifty little button that pushes out the julienne blades, so there are no extra pieces to be concerned with. I will re-order one as soon as the weather warms up enough so that I can get to the post office to pick it up (Amazon doesn't deliver to my house and I need to go out to the local post office to pick up my Amazon orders) and it is VERY VERY COLD WHERE I AM RIGHT NOW. But I do recommend this item. I also like the dial in adjustable slice size.

The guard lost two pins on its maiden excursion, and some of the julienne blades bent. It works best on the mid settings straight cut, as long as you are gentle with it. Fine for home cooking, best when not in a hurry.

I waited so long to buy a mandoline and this one does not disappoint! It's solid, sharp, and cuts very evenly.

I've thought about getting one for away. Did my research and found this version of the mandoline. I like the side that unfolds and locks in place to slice at an angle. Definitely use the cutting guard when slicing. Easy to clean. Sharp and easy to use to slice. Qucik to slice up tomatoes and cucumbers for salad. Nicely sliced onions

The convenience of this. Speeds up my prep and cooking. So effective and efficient.
