Do you know the model number on the reciever? Looking for a GW-DS52RC1 receiver.

This was a perfect replacement for my ceiling fans. I have a 3 speed fan and a dimmable light fixture on the fan. The receiver has 16 different combination codes that you set to match your remote, exactly like my fans original receiver had. I called the manufacturer of my fan and they told me the receiver parts are obsolete with no replacement and I'd have to buy a new fan. I don't know the model number of the new receiver that I installed but the model number on my old receiver is UC7067RC. I hope this helps.

Is the light dimmer safe if both the fan and lighting wire connect to only one live house wire? Will this remote affect the fan speed at that point?

The control part that connects to the fan needs only one live house wire to its input. This control part has two has separate wires - one to the fan motor and one to the fan light. The wiring is fairly easy but do get help if it is unclear.

Will this replace the built-in receiver and control that came in a Hunter fan that was fried in a power surge? I am hoping to repair the existing fan

Yes. You need to use this receiver and remote kit to replace your original receiver and remote. Just make sure wires connection is totally same so as to have the receiver correctly wired to your fan motor. And set the same DIP code for the receiver and remote to have them paired.
