It not only works well for books but also for iPads. It can be used while sitting or lying in bed. Either way it takes the strain off of your neck. No more being hunched over looking at books or using any size iPad. The base is heavy so that it can balance a book or iPad when the arms are extended. The rollers on the bottom of the base work well on wood or tile floors but they aren't robust enough on carpet. So you will leave a carpet trail.... You can solve this by purchasing 2 of these. Leave one by your favorite chair and the other one in the bedroom next to bed.
