This unit has so many problems I've never been able to use it normally. And HP's customer service is nonexistent. After I bought the thing, the problems began a couple of days after the 30 day return window, and HP's warranty didn't do anything, so I've been stuck with it. With all of its problems I can't use it as my main desktop. **Q: Can I watch/play dvd movies or cds?** A: You can if you use an external DVD drive. The unit may or may not have a built in DVD drive. I bought one of these units for my wife a year ago, and it has a built in DVD drive. When I bought this unit for my self, I found it does NOT have a DVD drive so I had to use an external one that plugs into a USB port. BTW, I quit using this unit.
