Review: Awesome Strings - But Not For Every Guitar - I own several guitars, and I found that the Elixir Polyweb light strings really bring out the sound, and character of some of my guitars. It made a HUGE difference in the quality of sound on my Taylor, and Epiphone Masterbuilt series guitars. These guitars really resonate, and now sound like they were meant to sound! I just can't bring myself to try them on my high end Gibsons yet - but maybe someday. For now, I am sticking to Gibson strings on those - that's what they came with, and I want to keep that factory sound that I fell in love with on those for now. Lots of folk's complaints center on string degradation - coating coming off, corrosion (rusting), etc... There are 3 things you MUST do if you want your strings to last any fair amount of time: 1. Wipe your neck, and your strings off after you finish playing - EVERY TIME. Get anal about it, and make it part of your routine - before long, it will become a standard part of playing any guitar. It will just feel natural to wipe everything down when finished - including the strings! 2. Control humidity! High humidity is a string killer! Don't just control humidity in the case - if at all possible, control the humidity in the room you are playing, and storing your guitar in. I know this is not practical for everyone, but if at all possible - do it - especially if you have high end guitars, and play them a lot. If not possible, at least keep a de-humidifier/humidifier in your case, and keep the sponge moist (humidifier), or change the desiccant out regularly (dehumidifier). Store your guitar in the case when not playing it to keep it in the correct humidity level. 3. The lighter you play, the longer the strings last. I know players that really "dig in" to their strings when they play - they get very aggressive and dig into each string almost to the point of breaking it. When practicing, or playing for enjoyment, try to lay off the hard strumming or picking. This aggressive attack on the strings shortens their lifespan considerably. It is especially destructive to Polyweb and Nonaoweb coatings - you are literally "ripping" the coatings off the strings. If you play venues, or record a lot, and aggressive playing is just your style - go for it! Just be aware that you will go through strings like crazy (but you already know that ; ) ) I play my guitars 2 to 3 hours every day - 7 days a week. I do rotate them when playing, so there is not a single guitar that gets the bulk of the playing time. They all have their purpose and distinct sound, so depending on the type of songs I play that day determines which guitar(s) I will play. My strings last 3 to 4 months before I need to change them out. Before I learned to clean the strings, control the humidity, and control the aggressiveness of my playing, I was changing strings every 2 to 4 weeks. That was getting expensive quick!!
Review: ELIXIR guitar strings - Either the POLY web or NANO web strings are the bomb. Been using them for about 20 years. They last forever!! Hardly any tone loss over time. Easier on the fingers too. Also...less string squeak . Get 'em!!

## Questions & Answers

**Q: What is the difference between nanoweb and polyweb caotings?**
A: Polyweb strings from Elixer are, imo, the Best Strings on the market. They do sound a bit different than plain strings (not as "brassy"?) But what you get in return is a sound not everyone around is playing. If you want plain string sound play nanowebs. I like the slick feel, they almost feel soft" to my fingers which allows my playing time to at minimum double. These ploywebs last for ever...! I've gone through 3 sets of regular strings and I'm just now replacing the Elixers. Make up your own mind. I think they'll end up with a new customer.

**Q: Is the g string wound?**
A: No it's not.

**Q: How do these fair up on say a Martin D-12-28 guitar?**
A: Well overall Elixer Polyweb is the only strings i buy......i own a Gibson CL 20 and a Guild DC5 E; both Americannmade..and 2 rainsong 12 strings....Elixers sound Great on all and last a Long long time.

**Q: Csg102a yamaha student guitar are these the right size and type? can someone tell me what size to buy?**
A: They are pricey for student but really good strings. The gauge is be right for a student, easy on the fingers though if your guitar is set up (at purchase) for heavy, they might buzz a bit.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great Stings - Warm Mellow Tones & Long Life
*by E***S on June 16, 2018*

I've been searching for a set of string for my Martin D28 for some time now. I have probably tried various gauges and types from at last 10 different manufactures. I just could get the nice warm mellow sound I was looking for. A few were close or at least when they were new, but tended to get a tinny sound after a short time. I had thought of trying Elixir string in the past but never did as I had read reviews about them breaking. But a friend recommended them so I decided to give them a try. I tried a set of the Nanoweb first and they were okay but when I tried the Polyweb I struck gold. It was the combination of the string design and also the gauge size. The light/medium works out very well. Easy enough on the fingers but still produces a nice full sound and I normally play finger style. Very pleased with these strings and think my search is over. I have had this set on for a couple of months now and I play daily, and they are holding up well. Highly recommended for the Martin D28 for sure, but if you are searching for a set of strings, I would give them a try on any guitar too. Guitar strings are not a one size fits all, so you might not get the same results, but they are worth a shot in my opinion. UPDATE Nov 26. 2019 Just a quick update on the Elixir Polyweb strings. I have used them for a while now and can comment on their longevity. I would say they are on the high side, meaning they last longer than most. When they do start to wear they get a little thin sounding and do not resonate as well. Overall though they have become my string of choice for all my acoustics. I have an older Wasburn Dreadnought and the Custom Lights sound great. I did find that it takes some use before they sound their best. When you first install them you might not fall in love with the sound. Just give them some time before making a decision. Stretch them a little and play for a few sessions and you might notice a difference. AE
