is the brushed nickel very similar to stainless steel finish?

I would say they are very similar. If they are side by side you may notice the brushed nickel has a amber or brownish hue. We have brushed nickel fixtures in our kitchen with stainless steel appliances and hardly notice the slight difference.

What is the thread type? It is smaller then 1/4". Perhaps, some metric one?
