Great little device. Easy to install. It is installed on 1" coper line. The water hardness level in my area is 28-30gpg which is extremely hard water. We have a water softener that successfully softens the water but there is a big problem with the amount of salt being introduced to our treated water. So now my water softener is set to a lower number and we get about 7gpg hardness after it (compared to almost none before). Because of the Yarna Descaler the current "harder" water is more manageable now. No more hard white deposits on bathroom or kitchen faucets. The water droplets still leave white powder behind if let dry, but this powder wipes out easy. When I was looking for the descaler I wasn't able to find max flow characteristics for most of the devices, so I opted for the the most powerful device that works with biggest pipe diameter. Maybe it is an overkill for my setup but it works and I'm happy with the result.

Bought and installed this per instructions in June 2021. Very easy install. Our well water here near Oshawa, Ontario is very hard, causing extreme deposits on glassware and shower doors. For reference, our original 15-year old salt-based softener works very well, eliminating almost all mineral deposits; it costs about $5-10 in salt a month. Over the next 9 months, ie until March 2022, we ran 4 very controlled A-B comparison cycles between the Yarna and our old salt softener. The Yarna had precisely zero effect. Let me be clear: that's 4 periods with the Yarna, and 4 periods with the salt system. Very thankful Yarna offers a no-questions-asked 1-yr full money-back policy. I'm sure it works for some houses, btw, and the key is extensive testing, so give it a shot.

OK ... I'll be up front - I thought these things were a scam. But now I'm eating crow ... After just a week the scale in the dishwasher is no more. I had to clean it thoroughly first so that I could see if the device made a difference. But it does! It took about a week to really see the difference in the hot water. Our problem is limestone - calcium - and perhaps that's why it was so effective. I could see the science with that. Kettles still scale up, but MUCH less and it's softer scale that can be easily wiped off. The water is NOT softer of course, but that's not the issue. Would I recommend this? Well I've tried every other none salt based process and overall this will be the most economical and effective - if it lasts. Give it a go, give it a few weeks to try, clean up first, and then see for yourself. You can always return it! Only four stars because of the price. The parts in this device can be purchased for under a hundred bucks if you know where to look. But it seems to be well made and kudos to the company for getting it together! And the money you will save on your appliances will more than cover the cost over time. PS: I should have taken some "before" pics! The inside was thoroughly coated in scale before we installed this and about 70% of it disappeared in a week after installing the device. I then cleaned the dishwasher with citric acid to remove the rest. The pic you see is after three washes. Before the device, the stainless would be grey with calcium deposits after three washes. Now it is not. I have now ordered another unit for another water system that is hard water but NOT strictly limestone. I wonder if it will work as well ....

I have no idea how this thing actually works. Easy to install, make sure you got a plug near by. Acts as a night light too lol So surprised how my hair was silky after installing this. I don't get it?! My laundry is whiter, cleaner? Come on!? The taste of city chlorine is not there. I don't buy water bottles anymore and the ones that I did have, I use them to store more water to let the bleach out for my indoor plants, just in case this is my imagination LOL. Seriously though, how the heck does it affect the taste of water?

This electronic water treatment system does actually work as long as you know what you're getting and how to use it. First, let me offer proof. We installed the Yarna unit about two years ago, and it's been working fine. Water has been softer, shampoos and soaps work better, and so on. Recently, I noticed that our tea kettle and dishwasher were showing clear signs of hard water โ streaks, and flaking limescale. The water in our area is VERY hard โ about 450 ppm, but I wasn't sure why all of a sudden I was seeing limescale build-up again. Not long after that, I had to go to the basement to check a circuit breaker โ and noticed that the Yarna metal cords that wrap around the cold water intake pipe had come loose, and the unit had come off. I carefully re-wrapped the pipe, affixed the unit more securely, and HEY PRESTO! it worked! The tea kettle and dishwasher are not showing the kind of build-up they had been. That said, you need to know a couple of things about this system. First, the directions don't tell you, but you need to place it about 2 meters / yards away from your electrical ground, which on many houses is fixed to your water intake pipe. Otherwise, the electrical field generated by the Yarna unit will be neutralized by the ground. Next, you need to understand that the unit does not remove the magnesium and calcium. It causes them to lock up in crystalline form, which then means they won't attach themselves to your pipes or appliances. However, they are still there, and occasionally I will still need to clean out my tea kettle, and put a specialized cleaner through my dishwasher and washing machine. However, it is MUCH less frequent than without the Yarna unit. Let me finish by saying that Yarna customer service was great. I had some difficulties with the unit at the outset, including one that actually failed to work. They replaced it immediately, no questions asked. All in all, I am much happier using Yarna than buying salt and having the problems of a water softener.
