How is the seat? Doesn't look comfortable at all, just looks like some pads you sit on. No side support and just a cushion for lumbar.

It's quite comfortable, but if your but is so wide that it spills over and onto the floor, you're not going to be pleased with the F-GT cockpit. Since it doesn't move around, you don't really need side support, unless you're really really inebriated.

I'm 5ft 7 and I have no problem. The seat adjusts forward and back, and the steering mount adjusts up higher

Can this handle a direct drive wheel base?

I've watched videos and during most things it does but at very heavy things it will slightly flex but not much
