I have a monster and ryzen 9 with twin rtx 5080s. The machine (aka beast) came with windows 11 and I didn’t realize at the time this was a bad idea. The issue is that the power requirements for the beast are a little too much for a domestic power supply. Windows has trouble cold booting and when I login the gpus are initialised requiring yet more power making the system unstable. Disabling the gpus doesn’t solve the problem. So at this point I needed an external SSD where I could install Linux and boot it as primary when it’s is plugged in. For about £40 The netac 250gb ssd is just the right size for a couple of Linux partitions, some swap and a reasonable scratch data partition without needing a much more expensive larger drive.
