The teeth don't dig into the scalp because they're short. My braid band is the 0.9". I don't think it would stick well if you have puffy/poofy hair. Maybe a thicker size would. I was lucky to have picked the right hair color. I have brown hair with thin highlights. I really didn't know what color to pick. Took a chance with Dark Golden Brown. Luckily this color was great. The braid looks and feels like real hair (very soft). And hasn't fallen out or frayed.
