Retractable Enclosed Plastic Air Hose Reel, 3/8 in. x 50 ft., Heavy Duty, Lightweight, Hybrid, ZillaGreen - L8250FZ

I own three of these hose reels and they all work very well. Two of them 25 ft. in my wood shop, I have had for several years. I just bought a new 100ft for my garage all with no issues.

Best hose in the shop just keep it away from the welding areas..

First off, the idea of a flexible retracting air hose is almost a dream come true for someone with a shop that fights constantly with rigid hoses that you have to manually coil up. This product certainly appears to be that dream, and thus far it is meeting all expectations. One thing I learned was to let the hose feed back onto the coil without manually directing it. If I try to feed it evenly onto the coil while it retracts, it won't completely go back in. If I let it find its on way back onto the coil (of course, while holding some tension on it instead of letting it go), it will feed evenly and fully retract. Note, in response to some of the reviews/questions, I do not believe you could add any additional length to the hose and still have room in the housing. Also, a good tip would be to pull those out completely before pressurizing it. I pressurized it while the hose was retracted and found it difficult to pull out afterwards. This would just apply to the initial pressurization and is not an ongoing issue. PROS: Hose is very flexible and appears to be a well made product. It retracts smoothly and feeds itself back onto the coil evenly. The air connections are sturdy and the hose stiffeners/handles on each end at a nice touch. CONS: It claims to be a 50' hose, but you can only get about 40'-43' of useful range from it The mounting holes are not well designed in terms of installation. You can't remove the bracket to mount it, which means you're stuck with a little bit of trial and error. The locking function is quite hit-or-miss. Sometimes you have to full on it several times to get it to lock. The supply air hose is only about 3'. It would be better at 5'-6' long.

I have a small quiet compressor in my garage set up to inflate car tires when they get low. For years I used a conventional air hose that I coiled on a shelf near the compressor. It was always a pain to uncoil the hose, and then have to recoil it after inflating tires. I read reviews on this unit and decided to buy one. It installs easily on a garage wall (with two 1/4" x 1.5" or 2" lag screws, your length may vary). This is a vast improvement over the coil/uncoil hose routine. I plan to install another of these in the garage of our second home. Cheers.

Homeowner purchase... BOTTOM LINE ... I like it. It works well. This replaces a 10+ year old Campbell Hausfeld reel that worked well until an internal plastic support/guide failed allowing the hose to rub-cut-leak at the transition from the reel to the central inlet hub fitting. This failure was probably do to my pulling the hose to full extension too hard too many times. I have no idea if this is still the internal configuration of that reel. I purchased this Flexzilla reel for the lighter more flexible hybrid hose. It is also slightly fatter. Unlike other reviews the reel retraction works well for its full length. I did fully extend the hose prior to first pressurization (100psi) and then allowed it to retract. A silicone lubricant wipe comes with the reel to be used if the hose ever becomes "tacky making retraction difficult". Silicone in moderation is the recommended cleaning agent. It warns against using "solvent and petroleum distillates to clean the hose which may damage the hose" humm?

Hose did not retract. I pulled hose all the way out to try to reset the locking spots but it clicked the whole way but never would lock. I did not take it apart because it said that would void warranty. I am gonna order another one that does not retract. It will be Flexzilla as i do love other products i have such as garden hoses.

Pretty happy so far, used quite a bit light weight and feels durable.

Hose reel was exactly as described. Arrived quickly works fantastic. Considerably better price than any of my local retailers.
