Review: Effectivelyworks the Core (AND MORE) while keeping you OFF the floor - **Note Regarding DVD Playback: There have been some other issues from earlier reviewers stating an issue with picture quality and playback with this DVD, I did not find this to be an issue with my disc** This DVD contains the perfect โall in oneโ package, for targeting not only your midsection, but leaning out, toning and improving overall cardiovascular endurance with the perfect combination of strength and cardio work, all while staying UP AND OFF the floor. Jessica created this DVD to work for a variety of fitness levels, from beginner to advanced. At the time I completed this view, I myself, am going on 25 weeks pregnant, and found a combination of intermediate to advanced levels to be suitable for my fitness level at this time. I am excited to see the degree of higher intensity and advanced modifications that I can continue to incorporate after the baby comes. For further reference, I am in my mid-30โs and prior to pregnancy, I was what I would consider an intermediate to advanced exerciser, and have routinely done Jessica Smithโs workouts, along with a combination of other trainers and programs for variety. With the help of Jessicaโs โmethodโ I have been able to continue exercising regularly 5-6 days a week for 30 to 90 minutes at a time, while maintaining strength, cardiovascular endurance, and the ability to feel like I am still taking care of my body, while maintaining safety during pregnancy. I think the same can be said for anyone, expecting or not, who tries this DVD. A little more on this workout; Jessicaโs cuing is SPOT ON as usual, and those familiar with her routines, will recognize and appreciate her gentle, yet friendly approach. No drill sergeant โattitudeโ, no raised voices, or yelling. Itโs like working out one-on-one with your best friend. One of the things that attracted me to Jessicaโs workouts clear back in 2001 was the way she could motivate, encourage and inspire, without making me feel like I had to โkill myselfโ to get a good workout. Considering I still workout with her regularly after all this time, I think that says a lot. As earlier mentioned, this DVD is created with its own โbuilt inโ schedule. The workouts come on a single disc, in a hard shell case with artwork as shown. There are no inserts, but a full workout calendar or schedule is included on the back of the DVD. This gives you the option to follow the Day 1-7 plan, or alternatively, you can mix and match the segments to suit your needs, or preferences each day. The DVD is roughly 105 minutes from start to finish; with each individual routine ranging from 20-45 minutes (combos for the daily schedules vary from 30-60 minutes). Equipment required for the workouts include a study high back chair used for the strength and cooldown sections, a set 16 ounce water bottles or a set of light hand weights depending on your level, used for the strength section, and AS AN OPTION, a yoga mat if you donโt have a soft surface, for the โadvancedโ abs specific work during the strength segment as well. This is only an โoptionโ and is not required if you elect to do the work standing, as I did. Also, as mentioned before, there are three different levels. Jessicaโs Mom, Debbie, on beginner modifications (uses water bottles, holds poses vs moving in and out of them, eliminates balancing and the majority of impact), Jessica, on intermediate modifications, and Raquel, who not only incorporates more impact, but also demonstrates some more โcompoundโ options, and balancing, giving you room to graduate from one level to another, or move back of forth depending on your abilities on any particular day. The workout is filmed on a professional set, which in my opinion, is not as exciting as some of the backdrops in some of Jessicaโs earlier releases, but overall, does not detract from the routines. The music mainly consists of faster RPM instrumental and dance beats, with a bit of voice over in some songs. You can turn off the music at the start screen if this is your preference. Something I really enjoyed was the little โfit tips and blipsโ that would pop up on the screen during the workouts that made you โthinkโ. Things that all related to helping reduce belly fat, like tips to eat healthier, getting more sleep, drinking more water etc. My one complaint is the lack of a โcountdown timerโ for any of the workouts, which was a concern with some of her earlier DVDs a year or so ago, that had been addressed, and has since been eliminated with this newer series of DVDs. More on the specific routines; 1. Warm Up (5 minutes): This is exactly what it says it is, a short, 5 minute, slower paced warm up with walking and compound muscle movements using body weight to get you geared up and ready to go. 2. 2- Mile Belly Fat Blast Interval Walk (30 minutes): My favorite of the routines on this DVD. This routine is split in half, starting with 3 minute segments of moderate intensity moves, followed by 2 minutes of low impact โHiitโ style intervals, repeated until the halfway mark, and then the sections are flipped, starting with 2 minutes of the moderately intense movements and 3 minutes of lower impact, higher intensity moves. The principle behind this walk, is rev up the metabolism to continue burning calories long after the workout is over. We see a lot of Jessicaโs โsignature movesโ throughout this routine, including power walking with forward and back motion, side to side steps, heel digs, hamstring curls, jumping rope, knee raises and punching/kickboxing etc. with focus on core engagement not only by maintaining posture and engaging the core, but my using the upper body and arms to incorporate the muscles in the back and core. I was a sweaty, yet HAPPY, mess by the time I was finished with this routine. There is NO built in warm up or cooldown, so you will want to add these sections to this routine for sure. 3. 3-Mile Flat Abs Power Walk (45 minutes): This walk differs from the 2-mile walk, simply by the fact that it is STEADY STATE CARDIO throughout the duration without intervals. The pace is steady, but not as fast as the 2-mile walk, and designed to create a steady caloric expenditure, while increasing cardiovascular endurance, which will in turn, allow you to become stronger during the HiiT intervals in the 2-mile walk. There are 3 separate miles that flow seamlessly between one another during this routine each lasting 15 minutes each. The first mile features a lot of Jessicaโs signature moves, with marching with arm raises and pushes, forward and back walking, side to side stepping with low rainbow arms, knee raises, heel digs with high rainbow arms, hamstring curls and a bit of kickboxing inspired movements. Mile 2 was my favorite, this entire mile is kickboxing inspired, so lots of punches of various variety, core twisting (nothing major on the back I promise), knee lifts, single and double arm speedbags etc. This was where the sparkle really started for me. Mile 3, is similar to mile 1, but with a bit more of a dance-y feel. As with the 2-mile walk, there is no built in warm up or cooldown, so you will want to select these if you are not doing a โpremixโ 4. Belly Blasting Strength Circuit (20 minutes): My 2nd favorite routine on the DVD, because I LOVE my strength work. This DVD can be done with two 16-once water bottles, or a set of hand weights (depending on your fitness level, I used a combination of 5 and 8 pounds depending on the move). You may also want to have a chair on hand to use as a reference point for some of the lower body work. I really felt this strength routine packed a lot of punch in itโs short run time. Rather than just working one muscle at a time, you work 2, sometimes THREE muscles at a time, to get MORE DONE in a short amount of time. You also have the added โcore focusโ with a lot of these moves, by the incorporation of balance, and arm/leg movements being used at the same time to work the core. There are no bizarre strength moves, most everything is basic, but itโs the combination of these moves that make the magic. The majority of these moves are done in circuits, with most sets being repeated twice. Some of the exercises included deadlifts with bicep curl and overhead press, weighted squats (with the chair as a reference point), plie squats and lunges with sword pulls, standing chest presses, rows, bicep curls with a single leg balance (optional), chest scoops, and side leg lifts, this is followed by a short series of standing ab work (which can be done on the floor for an advanced option). These moves include standing crunches, planks on chair and one arm, one leg knee pulls. Again, no included warm up or cool down, so you will want to do those as well, especially the cool down, to stretch things out afterwards. 5. Cool Down (5 minutes) Pretty self-explanatory, this short section slows down the pace a bit, and focuses on breath, and stretching the muscles. A chair is used to help with some of the stretches like pigeon, which felt really awesome, especially after the strength circuit. My opinion overall of this DVD is that the presentation and set up do work hand in hand to create the perfect โbelly blastingโ system, when strength and cardio are done in conjunction with each other as designed. If youโre looking for a lot of new or complex moves, you wonโt find a lot of that here, but the set-up is designed differently from Jessicaโs other workouts, which keeps things fresh, and provides more opportunity to reduce exercise boredom if youโre looking to add in a new DVD. If this is your first Jessica Smith DVD, itโs also an excellent choice! The various levels of intensity, also give you room to grow, or tune things back depending on how youโre feeling from day to day. After completing these routines, I felt refreshed, not drained, and pleasantly sore the day following the strength training routines. I look forward to using this throughout the remainder of my pregnancy, and beyond. Review: A new fan of these workouts - I recently got a recommendation to check out workout dvds by Jessica Smith. I have been wanting to try something new because a certain workout company (BB) is making it harder to get their workouts on dvd, not to mention that during the workout, they try to sell other products, which gets a little annoying after hearing it every time one works out. I don't want to depend on (and continually pay for) streaming and I have found other products (like meal replacement shakes) that work just as well for less money. I can't completely knock them though, because they are the first workouts I ever stuck with and I had some success with them in the past. But I still wanted to try something new, maybe something a little different, and see if I could get similar results. So after researching and looking at reviews for Jessica Smith workout dvds (which impressed me by how many great reviews all of the dvds had), I decided to buy these three - https://www.desertcart.com/gp/product/B01M6ATZSG/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1 https://www.desertcart.com/gp/product/B00W85TAHE/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_image_o02_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1 https://www.desertcart.com/gp/product/B01GKKXXG6/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_image_o02_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I have to say that they did not disappoint, at all!! After only using them for almost a couple of months, I can easily say with confidence that they all work! These are my new favorite workouts! I love them all for different reasons. I mainly use the Walk Off Belly Fat dvd as my main workout for the week, throwing in a yoga section from the Gentle Yoga dvd if I have the time that day. First off, I like the prices of her dvds. The other company's prices were very high compared to hers (that is, if they were actually selling the workouts on dvd). The main thing I like about her dvds though is how upbeat and motivational she is during the workouts and she does every single second of the workout with the rest of us! She is motivational without being pushy (not a big fan of pushy instructors). I appreciate how different levels of the routine are offered so if you are a beginner (or feeling like lower impact that day), intermediate (middle ground), or advanced (or would like a challenge that day), all levels are truly covered. I also appreciate the feeling that she is not all or nothing (which I felt like was the motto of most of the instructors of the other workout company - not all but most). Her exercises work without being grueling. I'm honestly not a big fan of exercise and in the past, I had to talk myself into exercising for the day, but with her workouts, I don't mind pushing play. And after most of her workouts, I don't feel like I'm exhausted, but rather energized so it doesn't make me dread having to workout for the day. By incorporating these dvds with a calorie counting app, I have lost the most weight I ever have. So she definitely has a new fan in me! I definitely recommend this dvd and I will be buying more of her dvds in the future (and cancelling the other company's streaming service)!

What an incredible find!
I have been a Beachbody EVERYTHING workout fiend for close to 2 decades. But I'm tired of always high intensity. I'm tired of being pitched a magic potion and powder with every workout. I'm tired of the constant push to overtrain with ALL the high intensity...all the time. So then I found this DVD somehow here on Amazon and after looking at all the reviews and swallowing my 'high intensity workout pride' I ordered it and told my self to just try it. Because as a Certified Personal Trainer I KNOW that lower intensity more often than HIIT is better, but I don't want to admit it's ok for me. So...this DVD contains some GREAT low intensity and steady state cardio, with some higher intensity intervals thrown in and a nice short 20 minute strength training session. I honestly IMMEDIATELY fell in love with Jessica's energy and upbeat attitude and felt no shame whatsoever doing a walk in the house workout. I had my husband do the Interval Walk instead of his usual T25 and he loved it too! I just ordered another set of Jessica's DVDs for a 30 day walking program and plan on pairing it with Kayla Itsine's BBG 12 week workout program---I'm completely burnt out on Beachbody and all the selling and Rah Rah overtraining and SO looking forward to this. Do NOT hesitate to try this DVD from Jessica Smith because it's not only fun, but now backed by the latest in exercise science!

VERY simple, Very encouraging. Good for new exercisers, older, or recovering.
Negatives: It really is just variations on walking. 3 miles. Definitely on the boring side if you have exercised before. However, Positives: She does try to keep it mixed, has 3 levels of activity, 1 is her mother, which is sweet and friendly and neighborly, so a plus for beginners, older, recovering from something. If you don't have a treadmill, have to stay indoors for any reason, it provides some incentive and company that will get you doing something. She also gives some tips on other health aspects, talks about and changes heart rates, and there are 3 segments to choose from.

A well-rounded program to help reduce belly fat
How many of us have flat stomachs? Not many, I would guess; and most of us are looking for ways to flatten our abs and reduce belly fat. Well, this DVD may just be the answer for you. Jessica, her Mom and Raquel are dressed in bright colored tops. As usual, Debbie is doing the easier version of moves, Raquel is doing the advanced version and Jessica is doing something in between. A very nice feature of this DVD is the on screen tips about losing belly fat. The sections of the DVD are: Warm Up Flat Abs Power Walk Belly Fat Blasting Interval Walk Belly Blasting Strength Training Cool Down. You can play all the sections or do the premixes, all of which include the warm up and cool down. WARM UP โ 5 minutes I love having the warm up as a separate section since sometimes I am coming off another workout and donโt need this warm up. Some of the fun moves include: heel walk, hip and knee circles and squat with row. FLAT ABS POWER WALK โ 45 minutes This is a 3 mile walk. Some of the fun moves include: side step with arm wrap, skater tap with elbow jab, kickboxing and V step with figure 8 arms. BELLY FAT BLAST INTERVALS โ 30 minutes This is a 2 mile walk. There are 6 5 minute intervals that alternate steady state moves with intervals. Some of the fun moves include: jump rope shuffle, side step with chest fly, knee lift with arcing arms and long arm skater tap. BELLY BLASTING STRENGTH TRAINING โ 20 minutes Youโll need 2 16 ounce water bottles or light dumbbells. There is both standing and floor work. Some of the fun moves include: dead lift with curl and overhead press, split leg with diagonal shoulder raise, plie reach/row, single side lying bike and one-sided spider. COOL DOWN โ 5 minutes This is a nice relaxing section with deep breathing, easy moves and shoulder rolls. This is such a fun way to work your abs. It doesnโt feel like exercise!

Advanced workout
This is definitely more of an advanced workout and I found it to be a little tough on the knees. I was disappointed that the packaging didn't state it was a walking/kickboxing workout. The 3 stars is because of the amount of kickboxing and lack of variety for warm-ups and cool-downs. On the plus side, Jessica is very easy to follow and the workouts are full body working your core, arms, back and legs.

I love this exercise video.
This video is great! She is not annoying, like some of the other trainers. I am in my late 50's and this video is very easy for me to use. It makes me use a lot of energy, so I have already lost 4 pounds. There are no burpees, etc.--which is hard for someone like me. Since it consists of mostly walking and exercises that can be done while standing, I look forward to doing this video every night. Also, she has two other ladies in the video -- one that is doing a harder version of the current exercise, and the other doing an easier version of the current exercise. So, there is something for everyone! The package arrived quickly. Extremely satisfied.

Great for moderate intensity day!
I have been following Jessica's workout since her first Walk Strong 1. I like her workout because they are doable and easy to follow. Since then I have collected her other DVDs. A little background about me: I am in my 40s and a homemaker. I use Cathe series (all her new series from XTrain to Strong and Sweaty) and train with heavy weights. I supplement Cathe's training with Jessica's training. They are both great for a well rounded exercise regime. I use this Walk Off Belly Fat when I need a moderate intensity workout on days when my energy level is low. On days like these, this moderate workout will really work me out. I actually feel good and refreshed after the workout. My mild depression and down day come on and off. When I noticed that my mind is not working, I will do Jessica's WalkOn videos for an hour or more, after that my mildly depressive state will go away and I feel calm and refreshed. Thank you Jessica for your videos.

Perfect.
It gives me the freedom to exercise whenever it suits my schedule. It has cardio plus strength training which is exactly what I was looking for and I don't have leave my home.

No music
No music makes it hard to keep beat. Lots of boxing moves. Careful not to trip yourself as no warning about changes. Sub titles over feet so hard to see moves
