Getting nearly 3 years out of it was more than I expected for the price. I just bought a new one and set it under my desk/chair tonight. I will say that shipping isn't the best. It arrives in a tube and takes 2 people to unroll. The directions say to place heavy heavy objects on the mat for 24 hrs to uncurl it. Placing those objects is hard, even with 2 people, because the mat is so tightly curled. I had to leave my boxes of kitty litter and stacks of books for 4 days before it was flat. So, be prepared for that. Still, overall, it's a great product for the price.

**Q: Does this work well on carpet?**
A: This is not good on carpet.  I am 160lbs on short berber carpet.  After 18 months of use, the mat is full of cracks and chipped out holes as to be useless.

**Q: Does it ship flat in the box or roll up?**
A: It does ship rolled up.  Comes in a narrow box and will need to be flattened.  I recommend placing heavy flat items on the corners for a few days.

**Q: Why are you selling a different mat than the one that you have listed in the photo?  are you scamming people by switching for a cheap alternative?**
A: They definitely are cheap!

**Q: Either on carpet**
A: It will work on low pile carpet with out too much effort rolling around. Though I'm looking for something firmer....

This is packaged rolled up. It takes a little effort to unroll, but it does flatten mostly after a few days. It's more flexible than other chair mats I have purchased, which over a few years have cracked. Time will tell if this holds up to use over carpet. It retains divots where your chair wheels are, and keeps it from rolling smoothly.
