Very well constructed, light, sturdy and comfortable
I usually use a standard collapsible pole (major brand, a bit pricey) but decided to carry a folding pole in case one of mine broke during a hike. I bought another set from Amazon and they were ok, but I'm shorter than average and while they were usable, an inch less would make a big difference. I saw these and saw that they had a smaller size option and decided to give them a shot. Note, these come in two size options, 100-120 cm (39.4" - 47.25") and 115-135 cm (45.25" - 53.15"). I'm kind of right at the upper level of the shorter size and the lower level of the bigger size. I more frequently need to adjust down than up when hiking, so I liked the shorter poles. For slightly more than I paid for the other folding set (and they were good, no complaints except being a tad long) you could tell just by opening the package that these were of a higher quality. Once I opened the pack and worked with them my initial impressions were confirmed. These fold better, feel stronger and the grip is far superior to the other folding poles. The lock is tight and easy to close. I would say that the grips were about equal to my standard poles which cost more than double what this set costs, and far superior to the other set of folding poles. At first, I thought that the carrying case was a nice option that I'd never use since I usually carry a backpack. However, these fit so nicely on my belt (and doesn't flop around) that when I go on short hikes where all I need is a bottle of water with me and no pole, I bring one of these along just for the comfort of knowing that, if I need a pole, it's there. I can't see these failing, the metal is a thicker gauge than the other folding poles and yet they are as light. While folding poles, by the nature of their design, are usually not most hiker's primary poles, I can easily see where these could be used for that purpose. If I was a low-mileage, relatively infrequent hiker (say 5-6 miles, once or twice a month), and if I only needed one set, these could easily be my choice. If you are a more frequent hiker, for the money these (even if you only carry one) would make a great emergency spare pole. After you use them, they may become your only set.

Excellent Choice for Walk Sticks
These poles are phenomenal. I bought a pair for my elderly mother for stability when she walks, a pair for her neighbor, and a pair for myself for walking and hiking. They are very light weight, easy to assemble and to disassemble for travel. There is a cable inside the three parts that keeps the them attached to each other. You just need to pull the top part until the button pops out to secure the three parts together. See the video. You can adjust to the desired length with the clip. They are very stable. I am 5’7” and I bought the 100-120 cm pole height. I set them at 110cm so this gives me wiggle room to adjust up or down. The 115 to 135 cm size set wouldn’t go low enough for me even though that size is recommended for someone my height. I sent them back and exchanged them for the shorter pole which easily allows me to keep my arms at a right angle.

Worked Great!!!
I bought these hiking poles for a trip to Hawaii, and I'm so glad that I did. After watching the short video a few times, I was able to open and close these poles pretty easily. I used them when I went hiking on volcanic rock in Volcanoes National Park on the Big Island, and they were really really helpful. And I used them in Honolulu when I hiked to the summit of Diamondhead. They allowed me to use my arms to pull me along, saving my legs a tremendous amount of wear. And they added stability when the rock was rough and/or wet. They kept me from falling at least once or twice. After long hikes my legs usually are exhausted and my knee hurts. I didn't have these problems on the days I used the walking sticks. And when I was in Honolulu visiting my 89 year old friend who was not quite as steady as she used to be, I let her use the walking sticks. I was pleasantly surprised when she said she really liked them, and I'm buying another set and shipping it to her. They are very light and fairly compact when folded. And very sturdy once they are opened up. And every easy to quickly open and close. When I was using the sticks and doing a lot of photography, since I had my hands in the straps, I could drop the poles and have them hang by the straps while I took pictures, and then they were right there when I was ready to move on. I didn't have to put the poles down, and it didn't bother me when I was taking pictures. I also liked that each pole had it's own case, and I could attach them to a belt or the outside of my pack if I wanted to. I didn't do this on this trip because I put them inside my pack until I was ready to use them, but it's a handy feature. And I think it's easier to stuff them in my suitcase when they were in separate cases, so I could cram one on each side of my suitcase, rather than having both poles in one case. I emailed customer service a number of times with questions, and they answered me very quickly and were very patient and friendly in answering all my questions. I highly recommend these poles and this company.

Good poles, but beware if you're a bit short!
I got these poles last week and used them on a little 4-mile hike this weekend. For me, they were great! They came together easily, though a top section was initially stuck inside one of the handle sections. (I wiggled it until it finally came out.) These poles are light and even a bit stylish, and they made the hike much more enjoyable, not only because they took some of the stress off my knees, but also because I could look around more as I hiked, since I didn't have to worry so much about falling if I tripped on a rock or root. I also found the cork handles to be very comfortable. The belt holsters seemed nice but were not really useful for me, since I found it a bit awkward to keep two separate holsters on my belt. I ended up just putting the poles in the one plastic bag they came in and then putting that in my small backpack--and they even fit with my backpack zipped, since they collapse down so much! One word of warning: If you are shorter than about 5 ft 6 in (my height), these are probably not the poles for you. With the poles in their lowest position, my arms make a 90 degree angle to grasp the handles, which is perfect, but if you're shorter than me, you would be out of luck. That lack of downward adjustability is a fairly major disadvantage to these poles, but I'm glad they work for me.

Perfect walking/hiking poles for touring/hiking and OUTSTANDING customer service
Bought 2 sets in January, 2021 -1 short and 1 long - and both work great. Just follow the instructions and pull the section out of the handle until the locking ball clicks into place. That was the trickiest part since there's some resistance (as there should be) to the extension of that part of the poles, but when you get that done, it's easy. Everything works as advertised, and they are steady, durable poles. The handles seem to be cork, and the poles are well made. I really like that they fold up to a short package that I can put in my day pack for traveling in Europe. When folded up, they are out of the way and unobtrusive when not being used, but are always available & handy when I need them. In short, these are great poles and a great value. No hesitation on recommending these poles. UPDATE: 7-4-21 As noted above, I bought 2 sets of poles - 1 short and 1 long. Well, I realized before using them that I had made a mistake in purchasing a long set of poles - they really didn't fit me. So, 6 months after purchasing them I sent an email directly to High Stream Gear (since it was well outside of Amazon's return window) asking if I could exchange my unused long poles for a set of short ones. Lo & behold I received an answer from Karl, the Customer Service Manager, telling me that he would be happy to help me, and he gave me precise instructions on how to make the exchange. So, I packed up the long ones, shipped them back to the address he gave me, and shortly thereafter I received a set of short poles. Throughout this process, Karl was in regular contact with me to obtain the tracking information from me on the shipment, then to advise me that they had shipped the replacement poles and provided me with the tracking info, then to let me know they had received my shipment to them, and finally to ask if I had received the poles they shipped and whether they were suitable for me. That's spectacular customer service to go along with an outstanding product. I have no hesitation on recommending both the product and the company to anyone who wants to do business with a company that cares about their products and their customers. Well done, Karl and High Stream Gear!!

Love the design and feel, but both the handles fell off. (Updated)
I want to love these poles. I ordered them for hiking/backpacking and love the Z fold design. They are easily storable either in the side puches or inside of my pack. While I don't see any situation where I would use the belt holders (other than to store at the house), they are a nice addition and work well. I went and tested several Black Diamond, Leki, and REI poles and I actually like the grip feel of these more than almost any of the poles that cost 2-4 times as much. They don't seem quite as sturdy, but I had no issues with them bending or slipping with me leaning on them with all of my weight. They snap out easily and the quick locks adjust well and the metal screws on the quick locks are an improvement over some of the other poles in this price range. Now for the reasons I gave them 2 stars. First off, I ordered the large/tall poles but received the shorter ones. I'm ~6'2" and there is no way the short ones will work. I double checked to make sure I didn't accidentally order the wrong size, but my order history says it was the large ones. From reading other reviews, it looks like I will have no issues with customer service with returning them and getting the correct size, but it does add another few days and I had hoped to use them this weekend. The biggest issue I had, however, is that both of the handles are not in any way secured to the poles or quick locks (see photos). The first time I tried to lock out the pole, I lined up the sections, grabbed the handle in one hand, and pulled down on the pole with the other. Instead of locking out, the handle just came straight off the end of the pole (completely separated from the quick lock piece, which was locked at the time). I grabbed the second pole and did the same process, and the second pole did the exact same thing. After sliding the handles back on and off a few times, they now slide off with only the slightest bit of force. I haven't seen any other reviews mentioning this, so I'm hoping mine are just a double fluke. I assume I could super glue it and it would stay in place, but it doesn't give me a warm fuzzy feeling to think about being on a trail worrying about my handles popping off every time the pole sticks down in some mud or gets caught on a rock. I would love to return these for the correct size, but am very hesitant to based off of the issues with the handles. If customer service has any input on this just being a one time thing, I will probably try the correct size. If not, I'll try another brand. Update: They sent me new poles with no questions asked that arrived within two days of my first review. They are the correct size and have completely different quick locks that work well. Handles are securely in place and I'm able to put my full weight on them with no slipping. Haven't put many many miles on them yet but what I have done has been great. Would rate the poles as 4 stars but the customer service bumps them up to a 5 knowing that if anything does go wrong with them I won't have any issues getting then fixed.

Great Hiking and Fishing Trekking Poles
I do a lot of hiking in uneven terrain and fly fishing in streams and these poles do a great job of keeping me in an upright position. For hiking the poles are sturdy, have a nice cork grip and adjustable strap. For those of you who hike in mud or have to navigate in or around water the cable in the poles keep them tightly together so they will not come apart. I have a Cabela's wading staff that is held together with a bungie cord and soft mud will pull the sections apart which can be very bad if you are in a swift current with a fly rod in your hand. The High Stream Gear TX foldable trekking poles will not come apart in soft mud. Simms makes an 7075 aluminum wading staff without height adjustment with the same cable system as the High Stream Gear and they want $129 for one pole. I am 6'2" and I purchased the 115 - 135 cm poles and they have plenty of adjustment up and down for my needs. Another plus to the High Stream Gear is the sheath that comes with each pole. They are well made, have a belt loop, Velcro fastener around the poles and a water drain port on the bottom. With or without the sheath from the top of the poles to the bottom the length is 15 inches. Very happy with the purchase!

Great hiking sticks!
These are easy to set up and adjust for the perfect height. I mistakenly ordered the taller set initially, but returned them and order the shorted set (I'm 5'2"). They come with a great selection of tips, and are easy to put together and break down for transport. I used them this morning on a 3.5 mile hike through a very rutted, rooted and rocky pathway, and they were sturdy and provided excellent support. Highly recommend.

Greatly assisted walking with injured knees
These lightweight trekking poles are wonderful. I like the adjustability. I am still sampling how to adjust the straps on the grips, to get them perfect. I am 5'2", so I adjusted the poles all the way down! I have osteoarthritis in my knees and currently walking in the city more than 5 blocks leaves me in pain for a day. A physiotherapist suggested using these poles while I try to strengthen my muscles. I am much more stable when I walk with the poles and my knees do not kill me afterwards. These poles are terrific - collabsible so I can pack them when taking public transit, lightweight so I can carry them everywhere, adustable to different heights, and so far they are really sturdy. *I did need to look at a video to adjust them after fiddling with them for an hour, but maybe that is just me. I look forwad to using these for hiking!
