There was one challenge of filling the converter with ink, as the moment I stopped drawing up ink it immediately leaked back out. From what I can tell I simply wasn't drawing the Piston all the way to the top of the barrel. A little trial and error solved that and the pen writes and fills marvelously now.I had avoided them in the past because of my familiarity with calligraphy nibs, and I didn't want to have to focus on my everyday writing that much. Not so! It may actually be iridium on the tip, but just isn't impressive to write with. The $15 Cross is a much better pen and write much better. I have no interest in writing with it because it just isn't fun or flowing. It's kinda like scratching a quill over most any paper and the converter is unwieldy and imprecise.Not worth the $15. I'm not impressed.The Pilot Varsity from Office Depot would offer more satisfaction for about $4. Cross makes a good lifetime pen called the Adventura that writes "ok" but has a small cartridge for about $15-$20.
