A 3/4 hp pump will run nominally at 8.5 Amps @ 110VAC, but at startup or under load, the amperage draw of the pump will exceed the circuit rating of the float switch, which will cause premature failure of the float switch wiring and the Honeywell microswitch inside the float. The easiest work around for your application is to use a contactor or relay. Thats how they make the 240 Volts. Its really -120V and +120V, the difference between the two is 240 Volts. You need both those HOT legs to be opened and closed at the same time.
