It is not as hard as a wooden one nor flimsy. We had one put in our smaller bathroom at the same time we put a wooden one in our bigger bathroom. I liked the plastic more then the wooden one, so replaced the wooden seat. Also, the seat and lid go shut with just a nudge and don't slam like the wooden ones. **Q: how many pads on the seat that will rest on the toilet rim?** A: Two full size and two that are a third to a quarter the size of a regular pad. The larger two are to the rear of the seat. **Q: The description says it’s quick release but others are saying it’s not. If it’s not they need to take that out in the description** A: It is quick release, lift covers and pull it back. It snaps off the hinges when you pull.. Then just push back on..
