Beautiful metamorphosis... 5''''' must read
The Roman by Sylvain Reynard Synopsis Raven and her sister, Cara, are at the mercy of a small detachment of Florentine vampyres, who are delivering them as a peace offering to the feared Curia in Rome. Though she's unsure William survived the coup that toppled his principality, Raven is determined to protect her sister at all costs, even if it means challenging Borek, the commander of the detachment. In an effort to keep Raven from falling into the hands of his enemies, William puts himself at the mercy of the Roman, the dangerous and mysterious vampyre king of Italy. But the Roman is not what he expects . . . Alliances and enmities will shift and merge as William struggles to save the woman he loves and his principality, without plunging the vampyre population into a world war. This stunning conclusion to the Florentine series will take readers across Italy and beyond as the lovers fight to remain together. Forever. My review At last the final installment in The Florentine Series by Sylvain Reynard arrived. The series took me on an amazing ride beginning with The Prince, The Raven, The Shadow and The Roman. I have to confess I am not fan of vampire or paranormal series. Sylvain Reynard is my first and last paranormal writer. What an amazing experience I had reading these beautiful books. I suggest all readers that feels my way about paranormal reading, forget everything and start reading this wonderfully written and presented Series. You won't be disappointed, on the contrary you will fell in love with William York, the ruler of the magically presented Underworld of Florence. History, art are entwined with passionate romance, suspense from the very first word to the last one. William is a dark and very complex character, ruling his kingdom with great power and no mercy. He has though a very compassionate and tender side with Jane aka Raven. You will also fell in love with the courageous Raven with the most beautiful heart. We are presented with a strong character that teaches us that the most important thing is the beauty we have on the inside is the most important thing, compassion that William begins to find and understands. It is Raven that with her amazing being captures William still existing heart and in the end freed him. Their commitment, all the risks they are willing to take for each other and finally the suffering they are willing to endure for each other is so powerful. The Roman, I had a lot of imagination of what my happen with the beloved characters, William and Raven in the conclusion. I must tell you all I was blown away. Sylvain Reynard is a prodigy, with an incredible and flawless writing talent. After finishing the novel I realized something very important. While waiting for the release of The Roman I somehow forgot all those special words that characterizes SR's flawless writing, kindness, faith, sacrifice, unconditional love, redemption, art, music. Yes, as all the novels written by Sylvain Reynard The Roman has it all. The Florentine Series with The Roman as conclusion is the most beautifully written series in modern time based on the ancient Myth of Cupid and Psyche. If you love flawless and beautifully written stories you will love The Roman by Sylvain Reynard. I know, I will return more times to this absolutely beautiful written Florentine Series. Thank you Sylvain Reynard for creating and adding more beauty to the wonderful world of Literature. SR I still am and always will be under the spell of your writing. I wish I could give more than 5 shining stars 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 Seeing forward for more from your amazing writing talent SR! Lady J

The Roman - Breathtaking and Magnificent. Five Stars Aren't Enough!
Once upon a time a Canadian author invited us to join him in a very exciting, but dangerous journey, to a world created by his fantastic imagination. We packed our bags, and on January 15, 2015, we visited for the first time the Underworld of the city of Florence in "The Prince.". Little we knew then what Sylvain Reynard had in mind for us because, as he mentioned the day of the book release, it was all part of the plan. He always knew how he wanted William and Raven’s story to end. And I can’t feel any happier of the conclusion of their story in The Roman. If you want to know what “the plan” was all along, you will have to read The Roman! For those who haven’t read the Florentine Series, now’s the time! Ask Santa to get you all the books, and witness the powerful and transcendent love story of the most improbable lovers. Two lovers who found in each other hope. Their differences only complimented each other to become a better version of themselves. Raven and William are soulmates, and their love is breathtakingly and beautifully penned through the whole Florentine Series. No matter if you’re a new reader, or you’ve been reading his stories for a while, I believe we all agree: Sylvain Reynard never disappoints. After seven books, I think it's safe to say his writing style drags you into a magical and unforgettable world. A world that, once you get to experience, you don't want to let go. As always, in “The Roman,” you'll end up wanting more. Will it always be this way? Always wanting more of these fascinating stories? I believe so. I also believe there’s more to say in this story. Our hero and heroine deserve more, and we definitely aren’t ready to let them go. Raven starts a new journey at the end of the book that I’d love see in more detail and be part of it. I love character growth because we can learn so much from it. And in SR’s hands, we can rest assured, we’ll find the wisdom and hope that sometimes we so desperately look for. Thus, I’m really hoping for a fourth book in the future. The Roman is a fast-paced story full of action, angst, betrayal, sacrifice, unconditional and powerful love, a burning passion, renewed hope and redemption. Unexpected plot twists will surprise you here and there. Every word, every scene, takes you into an emotional roller coaster so deep, that it’ll get under your skin like a tattoo and stay in your mind like an indelible mark. You'll never be the same after reading stories as profound as Sylvain Reynard's. His poetic and flawless writing style is pure delight to all your senses. The character's development through the series is simply moving and incredibly well-developed. William is the lover we all dream for, and Raven deserves someone like William, someone who admires and worships her as he does. His Cassita will fly in so many ways, and his love for her will spread her wings to soar. William’s love for Raven will break your defenses, too. It’s inevitable to not fall for William York. But life isn’t perfect, and to live a love like this has a price to pay … Will they be willing to defend their love against all odds? We, at Noches en Florencia FP, knew we had to be part of the book reviewers for the last book in The Florentine Series. We want to tell everyone, especially the Spanish reading community, that without a doubt, this series is a wonderful read as is the Gabriel Series. You won't want to miss it! If you're bilingual and you haven't read the whole series, do it now. Don't wait any longer! From all SR's books in both series, in my opinion this is his best work so far. Simply fascinating. My admiration and most sincere congratulations to Sylvain Reynard. I'm in awe and completely blown away by this story. Raven and William will always be part of me. #YoSoyRaven #TheShadowenEspañol #TheRomanenEspañol I give The Roman a gazillion stars. This story is simply perfection. Another masterpiece.

Intense and well Written.
William and Raven face his mortality and whether they will remain together. William seeks to protect Raven and does everything within his power to ensure her safety and that of her sister. Secrets are revealed and Vampire continue to duel, setting up, and attempting to gain more power. His territory is in jeopardy and so is Raven. Their loyalty to each other is unwavering and this book is a sweet reminder of his commitment to Raven and hers to him. Betrayals continue in this books and old enemies live on. I'm not sure if this is the end, but it ends with a turn I didn't expect. I read this book in a matter of hours and enjoyed a lazy Sunday reading this love story. Pros Well written as usual. William is forever showing his love of Raven. It endearing. The plot isn't easy to discover. The ending was wonderful. Cons At times Raven got on my nerves with her fight for her sister, who at times seemed indifferent to her help. It ended. There appears to be more for other books, but this could be the end.

A Powerful Conclusion to an Epic Series
Words are inadequate to describe the power and beauty of the Florentine Series by Sylvain Reynard. It's EPIC. It's film-worthy as a major motion picture. It's completely unique within the PNR genre, flawlessly conceived and seamlessly written, evoking every emotion in the reader from beginning to end. The beloved characters from Reynard's Gabriel series appear in the compelling subplot - a mysterious art theft from the Uffizi Gallery - but the major characters in The Price, The Raven, The Shadow, and now The Roman are of a depth and complexity unlike anything this author has written before. The entire series is a contemporary romance steeped in history, art, religion, mystery, suspense, and the beauty of all things Italian -- but it's so much more. Sylvain Reynard has created a labyrinthine underworld of vampyre royalty and hierarchy, ferals, hunters, and complicit humans that simply defies description. Even if you're not usually a fan of paranormal romance, this series is so much beyond what you've come to expect that it transcends the genre. If you love unforgettable, larger-than-life characters; passionate romance; suspense that will keep you riveted to the pages from beginning to end; twists and turns that will shake you to your core -- all woven majestically with themes of good and evil, hope and redemption, darkness and light -- you should not miss this masterful work of fiction. The Roman is a stunning conclusion to this epic series - which must be read in order. William and Raven have reached the point of no return, struggling to hold on to their love at any cost as emboldened enemies gather strength, and conspirators plot to tear their world apart at the seams. The story is deeply emotional and intelligent. It makes you think -- to question assumptions, to challenge the concepts of good and evil. It fearlessly exposes the dark side of human existence - rigid belief systems that are based on tradition, myth, and "black and white" thinking; the quest for power at any cost. It will make you question your own limits -- how far would you go to save the love of your life? Your kingdom? Your soul? William York is a dark hero, complex and powerful, yet tender and compassionate with Raven, the woman who's captured and freed his heart. Raven is courageous, resilient, determined, resourceful, and devoted; her predicament is perilous at every turn, but her love for William is absolute. The chemistry between them explodes off the page. Their commitment, the risks they are willing to take, and the suffering they are willing to endure for each other is so powerful you will never forget it. The build-up to the ending -- and the ending itself -- will blow you away. I had no idea what to expect, but I knew what I hoped for. The Roman delivered more...more of everything. I didn't want The Florentine to end; I procrastinated up to the last minute because I didn't want to say goodbye to these two amazing characters. I feared for them; I longed for them; I hoped with them. And I will do so again, because it's never enough to read Sylvain Reynard once. This series has set a new standard for contemporary paranormal romance-suspense, and has reaffirmed by devotion to Sylvain as an author worth reading again and again and again.

The Must Read Conclusion to The Florentine Series
Sylvain Reynard's The Florentine Series comes to an end in The Roman. If you love beautifully written stories you will love The Roman. I just wish that there were more stars to add. William and Raven are facing the toughest times in their relationship. Throughout her life, she has protected those she loves from terrible circumstances. She must also now protect William, her bashert. She is fierce. William has lost many in his existence. His beloved Alicia, his beloved teacher The Saint. There is a war coming in his city and he must protect Raven. William's seeks counsel from his Maker. But no one can be trusted. They were taken from each other in The Shadow, the coupe that overthrows the Prince and by the Curia. Thrilling is a word I have used in short versions of a review for this story, and it is. You started to feel the anticipation in The Shadow as he fights for his city of Florence. Now he must find his Cassita. He'll have forces trying to keep them apart. The whole of the series should be read from the beginning. You begin to see the references in the final book that were unfolding throughout the series. Sylvain Reynard is an excellent story teller. He has an amazing way to intertwine, in his characters, the ability to find their redemption in his stories. It is a testament to the persona SR must be in life. We are all worthy of grace and love, that is an important theme in the Florentine series. While some look at only beauty on the outside of a person, Raven has great inner beauty that William finds, and she accepts. I, as a reader, was greatly touched by the emotion he shows in this book. He writes about great loss with such feeling. Grief is an incredible emotion. The feeling of pain, numbness and emptiness were very relatable, I have gone through this in my life. He has captured these feelings on point. I am going to miss William and Raven. I hope that someday SR will revisit them.

Profound and Compelling ending to the Wonderful Florentine Series
Every once in a while a novel comes along that is so profound, so compelling, it will have you reeling. ‘The Roman’ is most definitely that book. The story continues where ‘The Shadow‘ left readers. Immediately, you’ll be drawn back into the dark and dangerous world that is William and Raven’s. But hold onto your seats and your hearts people…for this is no easy ride. ‘The Roman‘ is fast paced and the suspense is intense!! It’s a rollercoaster of emotions as the improbable lovers fight to remain together and William desperately tries to protect both Florence and Raven. While we know ‘The Roman’ is a story about trust, betrayal, love and redemption. For me, there were two key elements that shine through, ‘courage’ and ‘the power of love’. There is no doubt that Raven is one courageous young woman, but it is William’s courage that comes to the forefront in ‘The Roman’. As you follow William and Raven on their arduous journey, their emotions become yours. Anguish, fear, happiness, contentment, when the hairs on Raven’s neck are raised, you’ll feel them and when there are tears of sadness and tears of joy, you’ll shed them. ‘The Roman‘ most definitely delivers the epic ending The Florentine series deserves. In fact it’s beyond epic!! Sylvain Reynard is no ordinary author. He is an exceptionally gifted storyteller, his penmanship outstanding. If you are new to his writing and this series, don’t start with ‘The Roman‘. The Florentine series needs to be read in sequence, so you’ll need to start with the novella ‘The Prince.’ Congratulations SR on a compelling ending to The Florentine series. Five stars is simply not enough for this read… it’s off the charts!!

3.5 STARS...felt a little unfinished (*******************mild spoilers*********************)
I was really surprised at how William and Raven's story ended, it's not what I expected at all. But it was beautiful in its own way. But before that ending was a lot of violence and political maneuvering. Father K, who I grew to loathe in this book, kept mucking everything up for William and Raven. Men who can't accept that women can make their own decisions really grate on my nerves. Raven was very strong in this book, she was fiercely protective of William, and made it clear what she wanted for her life. I was a little disappointed that she didn't get to fulfill her revenge fantasy. William was just as protective of Raven, but much more ruthless. The Roman was a bit of a disappointment, I expected someone larger than life, and he just seemed kind of pathetic. As in the rest of the books in this series, the atmosphere and the art are characters themselves and I loved how SR weaves that into the story. And while I was satisfied with William and Raven's story, I felt like the rest of it was a little unfinished. Aoibhe, Ibarra, The Roman...it left a lot of questions. Some of the epilogue was a quick peek at Gabriel and Julia, loved that part!

Grateful and full of hope
I always find it hard to review a final book in a series, as it's bittersweet to say goodbye to Raven and William. The Roman was an epic end to such a beautifully written series. This series has it all, romance, history, vampires, intrigue, battles, religion, spirituality..I could go on and on and I highly recommend you read this series from the beginning. What will stay with me the most is the main character, Raven. Raven is a strong, caring and intelligent woman who grew up too fast due to traumatic events and had a physical disability. Raven is not our typical romance heroine in appearance, as she is "plus size" and walks with a limp. None of this stopped William from falling in love with her. How refreshing it is to read about a love so strong, I melted every time he called her "Cassita." I just wish this series could have ended with some more Malets, however I do have hope we will hear from William and Raven again. Now I need to start saving for a trip back to Firenze.

Final fraco!

The final instalment of this fantastic trilogy and prelude to this storyline
The final instalment of this fantastic trilogy and prelude to this storyline. Vampires, History, Intrigue, Romance, Love, murder mystery and so, so much more. Raven is such a wonderful brave heroine, and William, Prince of Florence, such a desirable alpha hero. The ending I just didn't see coming. How lovely to meet Emerson and Julie again too. Now the story has concluded, what else is this fabulous author going to astound us with.? Another fantastic documented tale like this I hope. If the reader of this summary has not read any of his books. Ask yourself why? You have missed a great experience , one I guarantee you are bound to enjoy if like any of the above mentioned topics.
