warning, these are 1310nm devices so make sure to check your wavelengths - UPDATED
the fun part of fiber optic is that different vendors choose different light frequencies. While the manual on these say its compatible with 850nm, they really ONLY run at 1310nm. make sure to check your wavelengths for transmit and receive. (This could just be a result of trying to produce a single manual for an entire family of devices, either way, heads up) It is always tricky to figure out if the text on a web site is right, or is the manual right! So the amazon website text is correct and the manual is, well, only for general guidance ;-) update 19-sept-2017: The company reached out to me and acknowledged that the "old" documentation may lead to confusion. They have an updated document and released a clearly marked 850nm media converter. They have provided me this product and it worked perfectly with my TP-link sfp switch, a netgear switch as well as my other TP-link fiber media converters so I have changed the rating to 5 stars as it worked right out of the box.

Reliable and stable connection.
Where others have failed, this one delivers! Fast, stable connection over long distance. The only thing lacking are mounting holes at the bottom of the unit. I had to resort to using strong magnets to wall mount this unit. The case paint and marking are also the ugliest in the market for fiber converters. I wish they made this in black or dark grey and make the marking look more professional. Though appearance does not affect performance, it does make it the ugliest component in my network equipment closet.

Does not work
We wasted a full day and 4 resources between organization and AT&T with this media converter. We ran out to local retail to get a different media converter and it worked immediately upon connection.

Almost Plug & Play
Since I am a fiber NOOB I was apprehensive working with fiber equipment. Fortunately this ended up being a plug and play situation. I just plugged everything in and it worked.

Worked perfectly in my premises
Works very well for the price paid, and it's extremely easy to install. Our decision to use fiber between our buildings were mainly based on lightning protection considerations, now it's plugged in, up and running.

Worked great for 2,000ft single mode fiber run
Bought this to replace a link that was getting low (100mbps) throughput from a standard Cisco SFP+ module. Getting solid 1gbps now.
