The case is made from pretty thick cloth like material. similar to canvas but not quite as thick. The material is definitely thicker than previous mattress covers we've had. The zipper is decent sized so the halves shouldn't separate like smaller zippers are prone to do. The inside is coated with a plastic layer to prevent liquid and air from penetrating. Only time will tell how it will last, but that layer might start to flake off in a few years if being stored in extreme heat. It would do well as a basic ottoman. Fit perfectly and zipped closed nicely. Material is fairly thick, the zippers seem to be well made and have a good pull tab on them for easy zipping. For nearly $30, its well worth the money compared to others out there. Big difference between this one and the others out there. The mattress stores so much better now and is well protected and can of course, transport it much easier now.
