The Lord has shown me that Satan was once an honored angel in heaven, next to Jesus Christ. His countenance was mild, expressive of happiness like the other angels. His forehead was high and broad, and showed great intelligence. His form was perfect. He had noble, majestic bearing. And I saw that when God said to his Son, Let us make man in our image, Satan was jealous of Jesus. He wished to be Review: From Here to the Eschaton... - I have been familiar with this masterpiece for many years, having been reared in a Seventh-day Adventist pastor's home. Based on my knowledge of the Bible, biblical languages, world and Christian history, I believe this book is a reliable guide to the millennia-long struggle between the powers of good and the powers of evil, or, if you will, the struggle between Christ and Satan as well as to the events that lead up to the final victory and return to this earth of Jesus Christ. Without going into the biography and credentials of Ellen G. White (easily researched on the internet), I suggest that the reader simply read the book with an open heart and clear mind and let the facts speak for themselves. In my view, current and past events strongly support the scenarios presented in this book. I bought this copy on desertcart as a gift for a Christian pastor who is a close friend. I am waiting for his comments! As many folks say nowadays, "It's a great read"... Once you get into it, you will not be able to put it down! It occured to me to mention the other books in this series so that the reader who is favorably impressed with this book could consider the other four. The set of five books is entitled "The Conflict of the Ages" series. The first is entitled "Patriachs and Prophets" and begins, well, where else... at the beginning! The problem of sin, creation of the world and all that it contains, Hebrew history down to the Hebrew Kings. The second is entitled, "Prophets and Kings" and deals with the second half of Hebrew history down to the arrival of "The Desire of Ages" which is the title of the third book and whose title reveals the subject matter, the life of Jesus Christ during His tenure on planet earth. Clearly one of the greatest and most convincing biographies of Jesus ever written. The next tome in the series is entitled "The Acts of the Apostles." The reader of the Christian Bible will know immediately that this is an in-depth consideration of the spread of Christianity following the departure of Jesus from this earth. And finally, bringing the whole panorama of human events to a glorious close is "The Great Controversy"... once read, never forgotten! Review: One of the best books that explains the reasons for the struggles of life - This is one of the best commentaries by Ellen White. That being said, it was a difficult read. The first chapters were historical accounts of the founders of protestantism but it was a struggle going through each chapter and while interesting it became tedious. It wasn't until more than a third of the way through that the book really began addressing the title of the book which pertains to the constant battle with evil. Her views on scriptures are insightful and inspired. The last criticism I will make is that her writing style is overly verbose and sometimes it takes her many paragraphs to explain something that could be stated in one concise sentence. But it is well worth the effort to trudge through all the verbiage to discover an absolute gem of wisdom and knowledge. Perseverance though this book will be eternally rewarding.

A must read for any BIBLE student.
This book is about the controversy between Christ and Satan, from the beginning when Lucifer, the highest created being in heaven who fell and his name became Satan, the devil who then was able to convince one-third of the angels to rebel with him. They were then cast down to earth. This book goes into prophecies and ends with who the anti-Christ is and proves it with Scripture after Scripture. This is the one thing about this book, the author does NOT take one verse from the BIBLE and make a whole doctrine out of it. Also, she explains what "hell"is...and that GOD is NOT going to burn/torture and have people writhing in the flames forever; This is one doctrine that many churches teach but is so out of character of our GOD and the truth needs to be taught. Yes, the wicked will be destroyed... by the brightness of HIS coming. Malachi states that the wicked will be like ashes under the righteous feet. Also, when Lazarus was raised from the dead, Christ and all those brought back to life.....did they then talk about heaven and what it was like? As you can read, no, they did not. We do not go to heaven and we do not go to "hell" when we die. We lay in the grave as if asleep. JESUS even called death a sleep. This is what the BIBLE teaches. So much is made clear in this book. :Many people who have read this book.. it changed their lives.... brought them to Christ when they read the truth of the Scriptures.

An Inspired Work
The breath of the scope of this work is a testament to its inspiration! From the time of the fall of Rome to the ushering in of the Heavenly kingdom, the reader is led on a sacred journey - almost too good to be true! But thank GOD that it is true! Wonderful!

A history of Christianity and the Catholic Church
This is an outstanding history of Christianity. The martyrs who stayed with the faith regardless of suffering death and persecution by the Roman Empire and the Catholic Church after the Roman Empire accepted Christianity. It is highly detailed and we learn about the reformers and their staunch faith. It is more than that, but I highly recommend this to any Christian who is interested in the history of the Christian faith and how the teachings of Jesus have been changed over the years. Beware of false teachers and they are all around us today.

True or not, its a must read
The Great Controversy between Christ and Satan is a war being fought behind the scenes. Regardless if you believe in the contents of this book, its a must read for everyone involved. The title says it all. Even though its part of a collection, it can be read on its own with no need to read what came before it in the series.

An Incredible snapshot of history
As the title suggests this book deals with the great controversy between good and evil throughout Earth's history. It is strongly Bible-based and inspiring. White has a style which is indepth and refreshingly honest. It is a complex book and although some parts may be difficult to wade through it is definitely worth it. The Great Controversy will leave you with a deeper understanding of the conflict between God and Satan and leave you better equipped to deal with the troubles that are fast approaching.

Worth a read
This is a great expansion/help to understand the bible, unlike the 7th day Adventice who treat Ellen White as a prophet and her books are part of the bible. I read them as an explanation of the Bible, and E. Write is very good as explaining.

Fantastic
Excellent explanation about what to expect while living in this world nowadays however, this book brings also a bright hope that Jesus will come back very very soon. It give us coordinates, show us signs accordingly with the Bible and tell you exactly what to do when you are unsure about who to listen, what to follow and really trust. Comforting words yet straight up forward. With no doubt Ellen White was used by God when writing this book. May God Himself bless us all.
