I was worried the flat drain covers would get plugged up and a lot of the pea rock would fall through. These raised drains works well, but i did add some mesh around the lower part of the raised drain so the rock would not fall through and the water would flow easily. Works great so far... Mine won't ?? Flush to flange is too tight - other steps in diameter on grate too small ???** A: It's not made to fit corrugated pipe. Only pvc or abs solid pipe or 3 inch fitting. **Q: What is the OD of the pipe insert?** A: It's a stepped insert so it should probably fit into most 3" pipe, schedule 40, 80 and landscape whatever size that is. I used it in a floor sink which had a schedule 40 opening. The problem with that is that it sat on one of those steps leaving that flange above the floor of the sink. I ended up drilling holes into the sleeve below the flange so that water wouldn't sit in the bottom of the sink. Easy, but not ideal. Don't have the measurements. **Q: I need a much taller one of these. Any suggestions?** A: Why dont you extend the 3 inch base of the pipe-ie add whatever height you need and then put the grate on top of it. You can then also drill holes in the extension as well to allow water to drain through that along with the Atrium grate **Q: Will the 3 inch atrium grate fit a inside a 3 inch pvc pipe?** A: I am 95% sure it will fit.
