Moultrie 5-Gallon All-in-One Hanging Deer Feeder

I wasn't sure if this feeder would work for my chicken snacks, cracked corn and fly larvae. I’d been looking at it for some time, and when it went on sale I took the chance. I wish I would not have waited as it works perfectly! The feeder is lightweight and easy to operate. The clock and timer are self explanatory, but the directions are also very clear to understand. I mix cracked corn and fly larvae in a separate 5 gallon bucket, and I use a 3 to 1 ratio. The hopper is the same size as the 5 gallon bucket, and pouring the mix into the feeder is very easy. I have it set to run 5 seconds in the morning and 5 seconds in the evening, and it runs for about a week until I have to re-fill the hopper. It could go longer or shorter depending on your settings but this is my preference. It took a couple of days for my chickens to get use to the feeder, they scatter but instantly return. Now they seem to be waiting for their treat. The overall construction is excellent. The hopper is plastic but it doesn’t feel cheap. Moultrie is a well know company in the hunting world, and if you don’t have chickens it would be a nice feeder for back yard deer watching. I don’t know that this size would work well for those that want to feed deer or pigs for sport as it doesn’t hold enough for long term dispensing. I would have been very happy to have paid the full price and I highly recommend this feeder for my chicken keeper friends. Give it a try, you will not be disappointed.

I love how reliable this feeder is! It spreads well and ensures our chickens get to eat at the appropriate area. The spread is controlled and easily adjusted! Starting it took less than 5 mins.

works well, easy to set up and set timer

Got this for our mini pig! Love it-but 4 stars because when you move it the feed falls out so it’s not really locked up until the timer goes off. Also, the collapse function is touchy. When I take it down to fill etc, as soon as it sits on the ground it collapses and yet again more feed falls out. But when it’s set up doing it’s thing it works great. I added a makeshift baffle on the bottom so that it pours straight down and not 20’ out. Edit-1 month later…brand new batteries lasted only 2 weeks (energizer max) so pig went without food at least a day. I never thought to test after only 2 weeks as reviews all say “great battery life.” Also there’s no low battery warning at all, clock still on too, so you just have to change them out-hopefully on time :(

I’m really happy with this feeder. I bought a second one a day later. Super easy to set up, built well, looks good, easy for one person to handle and a good price too. It holds 5 gallons of corn and the lid goes on tight. The timer has four settings. To start off, I’m only using two feeder settings for two seconds at a time. You have the option of up to six seconds. I wasn’t sure how much I would like the feeder but once it was set up, I’m really glad I bought it. It only takes four AA batteries. I feel like this feeder was a very good value for the money and will last a long time. Highly recommend

I use it to feed farm cats when I'm away for extended periods of time and it does great. The raccoons can't get to it, and I have it set up to dispense 4 seconds of dry cat food twice a day. I cut the bottom out of a flower pot and slid the pot over the motor and outlet, this diverts the cat food downward instead of slinging it in a 6 ft. circle. Thinking about getting another for feeding deer roasted soybeans in the winter months.

I modified this with a bowl to direct most of the feed downwards to feed meat rabbits (colony style). It has been working well and the feed that doesn't get directed downwards gives the rabbits something to dig/search for in the hay. It did get clogged in the beginning but I believe that was due to the mod I had made trying to keep all the food going straight down. I removed that mod and it hadn't clogged since and gives the rabbits some joy. I do however have it under cover two 8 second spins a day will empty it in little over a week. So fill it once a week and my auto watering system makes the chores easy.

Lid is not easy to attach, you have to twist it to secure as the container warps when feed is added. The unit works well and batteries last a long time. I would rather the timer was on the side vs. bottom as it is not easy to adjust without it being empty.

Der beste Kirrautomat den ich je hatte!!! Einfach zu bedienen und funktioniert absolut zuverlässig! Ist dabei auch wesentlich besser und preiswerter als andere vermeintlich hochwertigere Produkte!!! Kirrgut wird auch nicht feucht und / oder verklebt, einfach super das Ding!!!

Works very well.very easy to set up.only issue is filling it wants to collapse but if hanging it's ok.battery life is very good.mine is set to feed 3 times a day for 6 seconds be out over a month and is still working fine

I bought this for my ground feeding birds, when I'm away. The easiest programable timer/feeder I've ever encountered. Hung about 1m from the ground. Easy to fill/refill - the markings on the lid mean no faffing around when removing/replacing. I can't find any negatives!
