Varathane Premium Fast Dry Dark Walnut Wood Stain

This product worked very well on a wood surface that I was going to stencil. The price was great for the size can I got. It went on very easy and made a difference with the color I got and also for the stencil I was going to use. Drying time was great and quality was very good.

Used this for an indoor beam project we took on and I was not disappointed. A little goes a long way and it dried so nicely and fast. Love the color! Wasn’t too messy and I used it outside.

I have a mahogany project that, when sanded, looks almost pink. After filling the wood grain, I stained it with Varathane golden mahogany using a piece of paper towel. The wood grain came to life and the wood itself acquired a rich golden brown color. Under the right lighting conditions, the grain seems to dance as change my perspective. I followed the staining with a light coat of Bullseye spray shellac to act as a sealer before lacquer coats. I have nothing bad to say about the stain. There is an odor to the opened can but unlike some other brands, the odor is only slight once the stain dries. Recommended with the usual "test it on your own project before going whole-hog" advisory.

Vibrant color ,was simple to apply. Did cover with 1 coat and dried quickly.

I got this to color some Basswood stuff that I Laser cut because the basswood is so lightly colored. I was amazed at the rich and beautiful tone of this mahogany stain. I think it's perhaps the best that I've ever seen. I needed so little it will last months. it also seems to dry quickly.

A little darker than I was hoping for, but overall looked great.

It’s a good product and it is exactly as it claims to be and it sets nicely. Make sure you have mineral spirits on hand for clean up. I’d say it’s worth the money. It came sealed and packaged well. It has a very glossy finish and needs proper time to cure.

Beautiful stain color! I love Varathane products.

They are good for new surfaces. If your staining on old surface, sand out the old varnish completely otherwise you'll get a synthetic paint like grey.
