this was a good filter pad, i was able to make 2 for my Sump's filter trays out of this pad, simply cut to fit with a razor knife or scissors. it WILL slowly reduce the phosphate levels as described. one pad section of about 8x10" reduced the phosphate levels from a bit over 2ppm to between 0.5-0.75ppm over about a weeks time- as that was my target range I pulled the pad then. It's not something I'll need to use all the time but I'll likely pick up another package to have on hand in case i need it.

This stuff is fantastic. I've had it in my sump, after the floss, and within a week my phosphate levels went from 2500+ down to about 500. I can only imagine that after a short while longer, the readings will be nil.

Warning this will raise the PH in freshwater. So start out with a small piece to see how it effects your PH; even a little bit will raise it quite bit. My PH tends to sit low around 6.5. So I actually like this cause I can raise it to 7 and remove phosphates. If you are already sitting at a 7 ph I wouldn’t get this product. I would go for a liquid phosphate remove. And rinse well before using.

Placed a small cut piece into my reef protein skimmer for a 100gal along with similar cut out pads from a phosphorous and ammonia sheet. Not sure what a few of these reviewers are on about, claiming this stuff didn't/doesn't display results? Did they really attempt to give these pads a try? My apologies for not having a before n after results as I too, thought this would be a waste of $ and time, however, I was wrong. My entire tank, corals, macro algae and rocks were all covered in very dark brown coloration, likely Dinoflagellates. Overnight with a total tank blackout, woke up in the morning to find a cloudy brown tank and all browning of my DT items mentioned above cleared! The only thing that was left is protein skimming and collecting this brown funk water. later in the day, my water has nearly crystalled cleared....amazing and a relief!
