A great gloop for your inedible soup
I found this sauce to be a super-fluid, not superfluous fluid, and able to add super glued strength in a resin de jour consistent of 40% plant-based resin of the dirt cheap garden variety, 30% mid grade abs-like resin, topped off with this bottle before you. Results performed as well as high-end Nylon resins and had excellent detail to boot. Enjoy.

DO NOT FOLLOW SIRAYA SETTINGS!!
Elegoo Saturn user Like most reviewers of obsidian black I wasted a lot on failures. Which is unfortunate, as I need this resin for a project and it's not the cheapest. Finally I found one user who left a review with the settings Siraya tech sent them to try and it worked! They need to update their site with those settings! One issue I had as well was with supports. For heavy/denser prints you're going to need to increase the diameter of the tip of the supports and move them so the tip is at least halfway inside the print area. You may have to do a little filing to smooth the nubs, but it's worth it to keep your prints from falling away/disconnecting from supports. It is not a light or pleasant odor; it stinks! Respirate and ventilate! Other than that very good performing resin. Can take a lot of bend stress but not the most impact-resistant. Can take a bump, but I would not recommend for any application subject to multiple direct strikes.

Most durable resin I’ve tried
This resin is amazing! If you’re looking for something extremely hard to make minis/models this is not it. If you’re looking for something extremely durable to make parts/tools this is the one. Settings took a couple tries, changing layer height to .1mm was the ticket.

Decent, perhaps, but not great.
I've been experimenting with this resin for a few days to mixed results. Right now I'm giving it three stars, but I'm open to going up or down as I get my process dialed in more. Here are my observations: This resin is not actually black. While it appears black pouring out of the bottle, prints are more of a dark navy. It's an attractive color, but if you are looking for a true black, this is probably not a good option. Compared to other functional resins I've used, this one does produce very good detail. Durability is good, but the prints never get truly hard/rigid like ABS or other more plastic-like materials. The results are more akin to a very hard rubber, so if rigidity is what you are looking for, you might have to mix with another resin or look elsewhere. Compared to other resins, the smell is moderate, and cleaning and curing times are somewhat long. Another issue I've had with this resin is that it REALLY sticks to my FEP sheet, far more tenaciously than other resins I've used. To the point where I've had multiple bulky/sturdy prints pull themselves apart while printing rather than release from the FEP. And even when it does release, there is a very loud pop/tearing sound, indicating the printer is struggling to pull it apart. I've tried significantly longer layer times and slower lifts to middling success, and my next step will be to install a new FEP lubed with PTFE and see if it works better. Where I've managed to complete prints, they have come out pretty nicely and reasonably dimensionally accurate, but unless I can manage to bring the failure rate down, this resin will likely be more trouble than it is worth.

Smell horrible when printing
Great product, but make sure you have proper ventilation for this resin. The fumes are super strong with this one. Also, I spent quite a bit of time figuring a way to manage/regulate the resin temp because this stuff heats up quick and layer separation happens easily. This stuff is too expensive to run experiments with, so start small.

Great resin with a smokey look
I needed to print some fairly transparent parts for a client and their only request was to get something see through but not clear. I immediately turned to Siraya Tech as I have used their line of transparent resin products before with great results. Parts turned out amazing. I even mixed a batch up with some Tenacious for a couple of sample parts to give the client some flexibility. All of the parts printed are on an active functional prototype and are reported to be working as intended. Siraya Tech has been my go to resin for the last couple years, especially for clear parts. I have never had a bad batch of resin nor have I had print failures due to resin issues from their products. I HIGHLY recommend their resins.

UPDATE: newSettings - After 30 test prints...still getting failures
UPDATE: After Siraya Tech got back with me about the Blu Obsidian Black resin I worked with them on the settings. This helped some, but I was still getting failures. I then decided to try Vroom settings and that yielded in very successful prints. I wanted to share my settings here so if other are also having printing issues they can use these settings to test. Layer Height: .05 Bottom Count: 5 Exposure Time: 2.5s Bottom Exposure Time: 25s Transition Layer Count: 10 Transition Type: Linear Rest Time Before Lift: 0s Rest Time After Lift: .15s Rest Time After Retract: 1s Bottom Lift Distance: 7 Lifting Distance: 7 Bottom Lift Speed: 180 Lifting Speed: 180 Bottom Retract Speed: 200 Retract Speed: 200 Hope that these settings helps others... =============================================================================== I had high hope for this resin. However, failure after failure. Performed 20 calibration test, 10 test prints...all failures. Tested exposure time supplied from Siraya Tech, and e everything from 1s to 6s...resin at 87 f. Just don't understand why it is such a pain. I reached out to Siraya Tech...nothing back after days.

It simply doesn't work!
Don't waste your money on this product! I tried all kinds of setting to get it to work but it didn't! I've been using the Siara blu the blue/green color for awhile and it works perfect but this black one does not. The only way I got this black one to work is by mixing it with the blue one.

Good and bad
Did not have to go crazy on the supports. Very difficult to clean the black completely out of the vat if you have a light coloured print after this one. Go for a higher exposure than usual. Even though I almost doubled the exposure I usually use, the print was under exposed, tacky, supports left large pin holes. Took some fixing up. Cured it more than double time. It is a tough resin though which is what I wanted.

Stevige resin.
Hele krachtige resin.

Good resin
Bought this for a strong resin with low shrinkage. I read some reviews saying it is tacky and doesn't clean off or post cure properly. I cleaned it off using a spray bottle of alcohol some kitchen roll and a toothbrush, then post cured under UV light in a cardboard box lined with aluminium foil and had absolutely no problem. The resin is very viscous so you might need a heater, you can use a brewers fermentation heating belt wrapped around your enclosure, which works well. Like with any resin print hollow on the lowest possible layer height with drainage holes and you will get the best results. It has hardly an odour compared to cheaper standard resins and you can also download the print settings from the sirayatech website for pretty much any slicer and printer combo, which is incredibly convenient.
