These came pre-charged, but I went ahead and fully charged them. I use them in a few headlamps, and they do the job perfectly. Yes they cost a bit more, but if you're using hi draw devices, that require frequent battery changes, get a couple packs of these to rotate through, and they'll pay for themselves real quick! I would advise you do your best to completely deplete the charge if possible, and not charge them in between uses. You'll shorten the life cycle of the battery. Thanks Duracell!!!
