Purchased for outdoor work purposes and they're absolutely worth the purchase. Very durable and waterproof. I actually repurchased for extras. The color is great as well as the size, overall satisfied.

This Rite In The Rain notebook is the leading brand for a reason. It works exactly as advertised, performing flawlessly in conditions where a normal notebook would be ruined. I’ve used alternative brands in the past and ran into issues with the paper or ink smudging, but I’ve had no such problems with this notebook. The weatherproof paper and sturdy cover ensure that your notes stay safe and legible, no matter the conditions.

Now that I've used this notebook, I can't see myself using any other kind. I travel a lot and need a notebook with me at all times. That means the notebook I have with me is going to get wet frequently and take a beating in my pocket. This notebook is perfect. Rain/sweat have no effect on my written notes or my ability to write. The pages are thick which prevents tearing. The cover and binding are quite sturdy, rather than getting bent like cheaper notebooks. At 4x6 inches this fits in my cargo pocket without a problem and gives me plenty of writing space. If you are going to carry the notebook in your front pocket I'd suggest the smaller 3x5 version. The ruler on the back page was not something I thought about but has come in handy several times. No, this is certainly not the cheapest notebook available, but it is a reasonable price for a high quality product. If you are using this for field work, it is probably worth the cost. My work notes are certainly more valuable to me than the couple extra bucks spent. And really, how often do you fill up a notebook? I only go through one every month or two so it's not very costly. You cannot use gel type pens with this notebook, only normal ballpoint pens or pencils. I suggest using a Fisher Space Pen, it works very well with this notebook (also available on Amazon Prime for under $10)

These have always been my favorite notepad, BUT, they have changed the hole shape that holds the top spiral ring binding from small circles to large squares, making the pages shift from side to side 2-3x more than the older notepad style. PICTURE 1 of the amazon page shows the old version with the small circular holes, which I had in the past (also the same pads I thought I was getting), and PICTURE 4 of the amazon page shows the individual pages with the larger square holes. Being a product shared with so many professions including military, I can't believe they would regress in product quality when they were fine as it was. I also cannot believe they list it as the same product No. because, in my eyes, it is not the same product they once made. I still enjoy and will continue using the notepads, but they are no longer as quality as they used to be, which is why I give 4/5 stars. Perhaps a medium size D-shaped hole would be the best of both worlds, it seems obvious, which is why I can't believe they would change the pads the way they did in the first place. On the other hand, I use these notebooks in combination with the Cordura cover, and I don't think I will ever use anything else. I use them for planning my gym routines, which usually get sweat or water on them, and these pages don't smear or warp and stay solid and able to be written on. I occasionally use them in geocaches for the reason that the paper lasts forever even if wet or dirty, and permanent marker doesn't bleed making them perfect for the application. TL;DR: minor changes make them not quite as good as they used to be, but they're still better than everything else

These are very good quality. The only notepad that can stand up to extreme conditions. The 4X6 is the perfect size for back pockets.

I started using Rite in the Rain products in 2011 while serving with the United States Marine Corps. Fast forward to over a decade and I’m still using their products while working as a first responder. I love that they have multiple sized notepads and I have found this one is perfect to fit in my back pocket. The notepad is large enough to hold on to easily and has enough space for lengthy notes. The tough and thick material of the plastic outer portion, along with the thick pages, handle well while in pocket. The notepads withstands being sat on, manipulated whether in my hand or just the constant movement, and even during the summers when I’m sweating. As mentioned in the details of the notepad, it’s made to be used in the rain. I can say I’ve sweat on the pages and I’ve used while in the rain and have NEVER had an issue with smearing or the pages falling apart like normal paper. I don’t use a rite in the rain pen, any normal pen has been fine for me.
