It will not remove permanent markers from leather. This product is like ink insurance for your leather, you hope you never need it but if you do you're glad you have one on hand. The key to this product is to use as soon as possible from the initial leather ink staining. Review: We have an avocado green leather chair that has an ink mark on the back. We purchased this product and tested it on the underside of the cushion. It did not discolor the cushion, so we applied the product to the ink mark. The product eroded the top layer of the leather and left a huge white streak on the chair. The ink mark is still there. We purchased some leather polish in the same color green, and thankfully the color has been returned and the chair salvaged. I would NOT recommend using this product on anything of value. Review: My toddler left a few ballpoint pen marks on an Italian leather sofa... This product did a great job at removing them all without damaging the leather. It took 2-3 applications for the ink to dissolve. Tested on marks that were less 48h. Tried on a very old mark too.
