There seems to be some disagreement about that. And to me at least they do taste bitter. I tried to chew them but they actually made me gag. I thought about trying to just swallow them. But I'm not comfortable swallowing pills and that was the whole point of chewable. I also have acid reflux and thought they might upset my stomach if I swallowed them. I have bought this brands other regular vitamins in the past with no problem.
