Far superior to my custom orthotics
I have flat feet and severely overpronate. I have worn custom orthotics for about 10 years but as I got more athletic and fit those orthotics wit the style made stopped working. I was actually in more pain when wearing the orthotics than barefoot. I lost a lot of weight and am more fit that I have ever been., Went to a new podiatrist who automatically talked me into getting her $400 custom orthotics and she wanted me in the Brooks Beast. In no way would listen that I was not comfortable at all. So got a refund and off to an orthopedic surgeon who finally had answers and #1 for him was Spenco Total Support Insoles. I wear a neutral New Balance running shoe and he said the problem had been I had been buying shoes to fit the orthotic and it should be the other way around. The moment I stood on these insoles in his office I felt support and comfort. We trimmed them to size and my feet have been granted a new life. I get such support, stability and comfort from these orthotics. Honestly better than I ever got from custom orthotics. It is important to note these are not orthotics to be worn just for comfort. They are strong, durable and rigid meant to provide that needed support for the overpronator. There is rigid arch support with a deep heel cup that has a ton of cushioning. When I started wearing these I felt so great I exercized and walked ant least 5 miles a day for a week and overdid it. Needed a short break before easing back in. With any new orthotic you must give them a break in period. And as I said I get more support and comfort with these than with $400 custom orthotics. Another note, when I first wore these they squeaked which I read was a common thing with new orthotics. I put some moleskin under the heel which silenced it some but they just needed to be worn in and now the squeak is fully gone. I am rather stunned at what a high end product these are and also how durable. I have been suffering with pain for no one would help me get the correct orthotic and understand what I truly need. Till this doctor. Finally no more pain and no more buying product after product to try. But remember don't overdo at first and ease into these. These are very structured with a lot of support. But they will help. Let your feet and body adjust. I can't recommend them enough.

Nice arch support! Work well for myself and my big and tall husband
After trying many different insoles for my husband, I'm pretty certain that the Spenco Total Support Max insole is one of the best otc insoles out there. I can't tell you how many different types of insoles I've purchased for him as he has suffered for quite some time with the outer edge of his foot hurting him. After I felt the firm arch area of these orthotics, I wasn't sure if my husband was going to tolerate them. He has always walked on the outside of his feet and has suffered from a lot of back pain and the first day that he wore these, I was sure he would take them off and complain that they hurt his feet, but he didn't!! He said they felt good and that his back was hurting way less than ever before, and he wasn't limping from foot pain either....even after a 10 hr work day in steel toed boots. When he first tried these on, I noticed right away how much better his posture looked and then he looked at me in total astonishment by how correct his feet were positioned and how good they felt. I should note that he has medium to high arches. I suffer from plantar fasciitis and a Morton's neuroma on my right foot, a callous ( or undiagnosed bone spur) on the ball of this foot, and I've also broken the same foot in two different places on two separate occasions. I also have high arches. These inserts have great arch support and they are a full foot insole, which it's what we prefer. My arches weren't sore after wearing these in my work boots all day, that area felt great...I do wish that they had more padding in the ball of the foot area, but that was only an issue with my problematic right foot, as I have no complaints with the left foot. After about 6 or 7 hours my 2nd and 3rd toes were slightly pained by my neuroma, but not as much as they have been on prior occasions. These insoles did not make my shoes tighter, nor did they cause the top area to feel snug. My work boots are big to begin with and even after inserting these they are still very roomy. I don't think they take up much room at all. Both myself and my husband will continue to wear these.

) The reason the Spenco Total Support Max don't work for me is because this model is more like an orthotic
Although they don't work for me, I gave them 5 stars because they are very well constructed, and MUCH nicer than the rip-off $44-$54 Superfeet insoles. (I think the people who make Superfeet are no different than the Epi-Pen makers!) The reason the Spenco Total Support Max don't work for me is because this model is more like an orthotic. It is very rigid for my neutral/medium arches. They work great when I am walking, however, when simply standing, I can tell there is too much arch support for me. I called Spenco, and the customer support rep said that the Max is indeed more of an orthotic, and that if I liked the support, but don't need an orthotic, I should exchange them for the Total Support Original, which flexes in the arch. They also alternatively offered me a full refund, even though I didn't buy them from them directly, because they have an unconditional guarantee. Wow! That's the way shopping should be! When I bought these, I also bought Superfeet Green at the same time, because they are all the rave at places like REI. But, there really is no comparison. Superfeet Green simply has a top fabric over closed-cell foam, with the addition of a plastic mold under the arch and heel. That's it. The Spenco Total Support Max has three layers - an anti-microbial top fabric, foam, padding, and a plastic mold under the heel and arch. They also have 3 strategically placed pads on the very bottom below the plastic. Another nice thing about the Spenco insoles is that they have vent holes under the ball of the foot, and I can tell you that these made a huge difference in my leather Keen Citizen boots. The stock insoles, like the Superfeet insoles, had no holes under the ball portion, and when I removed the insoles after wearing them at work all day, they were soaked with sweat. When I ran my fingers across the footbed of the shoes, my fingers were dripping. While I did not wear the Superfeet insoles for that long, I could see they would do the same thing, and I can see how the moisture would affect the close-cell foam of the insole, as well. But, this did not happen with the Spenco insoles. The footbed of the shoe was not wet at all when I removed them, and the insole itself was not soaking wet, either. I honestly can't believe having holes in the insoles would matter that much, because I would think the moisture of the sweat would still be there, but apparently holes in the insoles make a huge difference. How the makers of Superfeet can justify charging so much more for their product when it's easy to see how much cheaper it must be to make than the Spenco product smells like pure greed to me. I prefer to support Spenco because they produce a better product AND at a fair price. I returned the Superfeet Greens I ordered, and am in the process of an exchange with Spenco the Total Support Max model I bought for the Total Support Original model, as Spenco's customer service rep suggested.

Spenco making my feet happy again
My podiatrist looked at my existing insoles (Stepprs and Dr. Scholl's) and said that I needed something with a more rigid arch to help alleviate my plantar fasciitis. I had the Spenco Total Support Max insoles already on the way. Yes, they are more expensive, but they don't actually just feel "cushy" on my feet. I can actually feel them pressing up on the arch with every step (which is the point of arch support). I'm a few days into wearing them and I can actually feel some improvement in my pain level (also doing the prescribed stretches every 30 minutes). I'm not waking up feeling hobbled and I'm walking almost pain-free for the first time in 3 months. If I decide that this is the best product for continued foot health, I will probably buy a couple more pairs for my other daily shoes and my slippers.

Could help? But not for my overpronated ankle
These are 8/10 in comfort I work 12 hr shifts as a CNA. I need insoles because I had a bad ankle sprain that cause over pronation on my left ankle. Unfortunately it’s not as supportive as I need for the over pronation. I give that a 6/10. At least at the end of my shift my feet weren’t throbbing of pain as they have with other insoles during and after my 12hour shift. But I will be returning because I need more support for my ankle.

These are ridged insoles but there in lies the reason they provide excellent support!
Ok I have flat feet and my heels always hurt. I am on my feet 11 hours per shift. I purchased a pair of Irish setter wing master boots which were very comfortable to start with, but for my feet I need even more support. Day one with these new insoles I thought I made a bad choice, my feet hurt worse than before I put them in the boots. I stuck with them and by day 3 my feet did not hurt very much anymore, I was stunned. They have improved even more after wearing them every day for 6 weeks. I still have very minor pain but no more than anyone else who is on their feet 11 hours per day. These insoles have worked wonders for me. They are very rigid, they are not squishy or soft, I think that is why my feet hurt the first two days, and also the sane ridged support is exactly why my feet do not hurt now, after my feet were adjusted to the insoles I am sure each person is different but when I say I had heel pain before I could not shave barefooted after taking a shower, I use to slip soft running shoes on just to shave as my heels would hurt so bad. Now I shave barefooted again. I know it sounds crazy, but these have been a miracle for me. My pain is manageable nothing like before. I highly recommend these insoles just give yourself a few days to get adjusted to them.
