Family unity is the magic
I avoided this film as we have too much magical thinking among grownups. But a fried told me it was about generational healing. I can relate to that. Once it began, I realized it related to the genre or Magical Realism. Yes, you could write a doctoral dissertation about it, but that's not the point. It is unfailingly entertaining and possibly the best-crafted Disney animation in decades. The humanly-flawed characters are universal in their appeal. No bad guys, just people doing the best they can. They do it best when they do it together. The most magical moment in the film is a hug. In this age of divisions and alienation, the Encanto's message heals.

Super songs and story that sticks
With Mirabel's large, extended family, the colorful tale touches on everyone and endears them to your heart. Even with no one talking about Bruno, the songs sure stick in your head. This magical story is one of Disney's best for capturing its audience and tackling diverse family dynamics. Everyone gets their moment to shine and celebrates the differences in each individual.
