The Mace
The Battle master mace axe is an over all nice weapon/toy. It has nice durability, roughly equvivlent to that of the warlock only all of it besides the handle pole part is made of the same foam as the Warlock axe blades. In shipping it's blades can be bent which may require a replacment, but most should be fine. It is a fun weapon that is much batter then the Warlock Axe in my opinion Because it is lighter and faster but still has almost the same punch, and when used aggersivily the only thing that can have a true hope of fending it off is the Warlock axe or another battlemaster(dont worry it wont break other nerf swords and axes). The power and the swiftness combined with the fact that it is smaller and harder to block and can hold it's own even against the maruader long sword and Warlock axe make it an awsome site to behold in a fight, though it should not cause any long lasting damage just a moment of pain at first impact that should dispate. It is shorter enough for kids and long enough for adults and is a one hand wepon for adults, two hand for kids and roughly 1 and 1/2 for teenagers. It's only true weakness is how short it is, but if you are using it right that shouldn't matter scince you are right up in the opponents face. If you are fighting it with a fury sword, your best bet it to run hide and jump it from behind. This is an over all fun weapon and is probably one of the most versitile weapons from Nerf N-force. Though the picture may desicive you as mentioned above, it does have three blades set at angles from each other like a normal three bladed mace.

Dad the Defiler
Buy it. It's durable. It's fun. It's the perfect weapon for a father that wants to play Nerf warriors with his son... or daughter. My boy has the sword (blue). He gets to be the daring hero, I get to be the giant tyrannical badass monster villain with a mace. He's 3, I'm 33, but he manages to stop my evil crusade every time. It's fun, it's actually better made than my son's sword. No paint peeling, the handle is detailed and feels comfortable. It's not heavy at all and it's weight gives it good balance. I have not a single complaint, which is rare. I typically like to say something in honesty that tells of a flaw... I cant find one. I've spent hundreds of dollars on video game consoles and other crap. Best gift I got my son was a foam sword, and a mace for myself to play battle for hours on end. Buy it. It's relatively cheap. It's good oldschool active fun. It's a quality product. Like the other guys review I read, I take much pride in my Nerf mace skills and allowing my "puny human" offspring to defeat me.

Excellent Addition For Your Foam Weapon Arsenal
I purchased this along with the Warlock Axe for battles with my 6 year-old. This is a great toy that can lead to hours of fun, and an extended battle will leave you soaked with sweat. I was actually somewhat surprised at how long some sessions went and how tired we both were at the end. The mace itself looks good, and is substantially lighter than the axe. It seems to be quite durable, but the paint will wear off with moderate to intense use. The handles are sturdy, and there isn't any of the excessive wobble that you get from the so-cheap-they-are-almost-disposable foam toys from the various dollar stores. They are not exactly cheap, but they will last, and I feel that the quality of the product is reflected in the cost.

You can get them for free!!!
These were last year's Christmas present. As a parent meaning well, we soon had way overdone Christmas again with way too many presents for any kid. But $40 for a nerf beater thing? Ah, what the heck, they wanted it really bad. Wouldn't you know it, of all the gifts, the only one that truly has been played with was this thing. I mean, we've spent the last year just whoopin the hell out of each other with these things and they're not cracked, tearing or broken in any fashion, just paint scuffed off. Wow!! New age Nerf is seriously good stuff. How do you get them free? Well, these things seriously opened our eyes to the absurdity of too many gifts and the value of 1 or 2 well thought of good gifts. So this year, each kid gets one "big" gift and a stocking. I've saved hundreds, and it only cost me $80 to figure it out!! And, it's allowed us to give sooo many more toys to kids in need, that's the best present my kids have found. So, buy two of these things and fight!

It's good, in fact, great!
To start off my review, I would like to start with durability; the main "blades" at the top are just styrofoam, and will tear off if you aren't careful. Now, that should be considered when buying. If you are buying this for a little child (like I was), then you might want to reconsider buying this product. Pros: -it's very fun to knock a weapon out of someones hand -it is sturdy in the hilt/handle (for the people who don't know that they are the same thing) Cons: -the blades are flimsy -it is smaller than the Amazon pictures suggest -it could seriously injure someone (wait, did I mention that?)

This is a GREAT series of nerf weapons
For any parents or aunties or grandparents out there wondering how to get the kids off the couch and away from the video games - here is your answer!! These weapons are great for the kids to run around and have battles, preferably outdoors but certainly away from anything knock-over-able. The kids have the whole set at this point - the double swords, the long swords, the short swords, the axe, the shields and every single one is high quality (even stands up to some chewing by the dog and the youngest boy) and is magically sturdy without being able to injure the kids. Best toy to come out in a long time. Can't recommend it enough.

Looked and worked very well with a shield vs the sword or battle axe

Hours of fun for my kid!

It's well constructed, but it's a little too hard. In battle, it's not as fun as the swords, because it is not as easy to handle. Get the swords, they're much more fun.
