works well, i have it wrapped around my kombucha jar. it was easy to get the correct temperature with the thermostat. the lead is ok, just about long enough to be useful.

They now seem to have resolved the quality control issue where the clip was on the outside but there is a new minor issue. First the positive - It works great and is easy to use. Wrapped it at the bottom of a Youngs 25 litre FV just above the tap and it is keeping my fermenting wine at around 24C in a ambient room temperature of around 18.5C. This is approx with the dial set half way. Now, this is where this minor issue is. The dial has been put together somewhat incorrectly so that the 'On' positon is around notch 4, and the dial then turns way past the last notch all the way to just before the 'Off position'. i.e. the switch has been misalligined with the graduated notches. In practice this in no way affects the operation of the belt. But it does mean you have to remember where the dial was in relation to the ambient temperature for each subsequent brew, as of course once you turn it on there is no way to count the notches it's dialed in at past the first 2-3 notches. So over the course of the last 48 hours checking it every 12 hours or so, when adjusting the dial I am doing it by eye and turning it 3-4mm, the same as 'one notch'. So in practise it works perfectly. I suspect this will have been resolved by the next batch if others have the same minor flaw so you may wanna wait till then, perhaps around July Or August if you want a perfect one. On a side note it works best wrapped around near the bottom of your demi john or fermentation vessel, and uses around 25 watts full power, and around 12 - 14 watts if using half power like I am. If your unit rate of electric is around 21p like mine ( luckily still in a 2 year contract... ), then at half power it costs around 6.6 pence to run for 24 hours. Or 50 pence a week. Overall a great product and better than the ones with no adjuctable temperature. Gonna go check on it now while I put dinner on!
