Leanne is extremely comprehensive in everything she does and this book is no exception. Having followed her YouTube Channel and learned so much from her videos I knew I wanted the book to round out my resources. I wasn't expecting this caliber of production nor the 448 pages of information. I thought it was just going to be your average cookbook. It does contain amazing recipes, with brilliant, beautiful photos, which I always find extremely helpful but also some meal plans, that I wasn't expecting. Having meal plans makes switching over to a Keto eating style SO much easier and then, as if that wasn't enough, she also includes oodles of information (and I mean OODLES) on everything you could ever want or need to know about Keto. Things like how to make your own....everything Keto, like nut butters and mayo and there's travel strategies, a grocery store guide, the down low on supplements, how to customize your eating plan, an easy to understand section on macros that I found very helpful and Chapter 7 blew my mind. Chapter 7 is the most comprehensive breakdown of helpful information on FATS that I've ever seen in a very easy to understand format. I think my biggest concern with starting Keto is dealing with Keto Flu but she addresses this too and breaks down what you can do to avoid or greatly reduce the symptoms. I've looked at other plans and books but I highly recommend this one, especially for women. She's cleverly uncovered what women really need to know, to keep their hormones balanced, when doing Keto. This book is like a Keto bible. Everything you would need to know to get started and to continue developing your Keto eating style is here. Super happy with this purchase! The pages are same quality as high end coffee table books and the cover is not a "paperback" but glossy, heavy cardboard. This book is heavy! While it is only 450 pages, it weighs 3# and will definitely hold up to years of use. So, beautiful book. Now,.,, what's inside? Well, the back half of the book is recipes for everything from soup to nuts. Due to my food allergies to dairy, gluten and soy I am a "scratch cook" so I can tell from just reading these recipes that they are going to be good. And none of them contain gluten or soy and Leanne gives options where appropriate for egg free and dairy free changes. The front half of the book is full of LOTS of information but it is easy to read due to all the color incorporated into each page. Colored paragraph titles, charts, graphs, lists are all done is color which makes the information so much more readable. This book is well organized and the information extremely comprehensive. Her philosophy is that each of us will do best if we customize our Keto Diet to our specific needs and she provides the information necessary for us to make an educated choice of how to initiate our journey into Keto-land. In my instance, I have Hypothyroidism, for which Leeann repeatedly recommended using the "Adapted Fat Burner" plan which incorporates small additional amounts of carbs in the evening because the thyroid needs carbs to metabolize available thyroid hormone into the cells. It will take a bit longer for me to reach fat burning mode but I will be doing it in the best manner for my biology. I summary, I highly recommend this beautiful book which will guide you on your journey to "fat burning mode" whether that be by the Classic Keto method, the Pumped up Keto diet or, like me, a slow but steady journey to ketosis.

Best Keto book out there!

VERY thorough ....but also time-consuming
The first half of this book is dedicated to understanding keto, and setting yourself up for success with making such a diet change. The information is all very helpful and useful, if time-consuming to read. The back half is full of recipes, weekly meal plans, and shopping lists. Which is all super. However, the recipes are TIME-CONSUMING. I have never been the best cook, but I try. And these took a LONG time. The meal plans are also apparently intended for two or four people to eat from. I would make a recipe and get 4 servings, but the meal plan says I’ll eat it twice that week. So, after the first week, I still had groceries in the fridge, waiting to be made into food. Also, the shopping list wants you to buy stuff that you very likely won’t have on hand, and won’t use much. I went to 3 grocery stores looking for some items, before giving up and ordering the items from Amazon. But in the 6 weeks since I abandoned this cookbook, I haven’t needed 80% of those strange ingredients. Overall, the book is great for knowledge, and the recipes are great for someone more familiar in a kitchen AND cooking for more than one person.

About 6 years ago I managed to lose 5 stone by following a low calorie, low fat diet. More astoundingly, I have kept it off. However, there has always been another 7lbs that I would love to drop but no matter what I did, I couldn't get rid of it. It was suggested that my body is pretty good at maintaining and to get a different result I needed to do something completely different. This made sense so I started to look at keto but in all honesty, it scared me to death. I bought this book as it seemed pretty comprehensive. I read it over a week and decided that I just couldn't do it. I messed around for another week doing the same thing and expecting a different result. I then picked up the book again and decided that if I was going to do it, I needed to follow the plan to the letter. 12 weeks on and I am so pleased that I did. I lost the 7lbs easily. The most amazing outcome though is that people have commented on my "glow" and I know that my hair is thicker. I'm also full of energy and found it very easy to stick to over the Christmas period not putting on an ounce. I realise that this way of eating isn't for everyone. Certainly initially, it goes against everything that you think you know about nutrition, but if you really want to try, this book is amazing. There is an awful lot of detail but that is one of it's strengths. There isn't one query that I've had that I haven't been able to find in this book. There are plenty of recipes that on the whole are pretty tasty; there are a few that I couldn't take but I'd say every cookbook would be the same. It isn't easy but then you are trying to change the habits of a lifetime. Stick to the plan, do what the book tells you and you will start to get results, hopefully without the side effects that people often encounter.

I was looking for a birthday present for a friend and there are so many bad Keto books out there that sometimes it's hard to find the good ones. I bit the bullet and got this one but I needn't have worried. This is the best and most comprehensive Keto book I've ever seen. Ms Vogel's emphasis on whole foods is really great - with any successful diet there are so many products and powders that seem to come on the market and a lot of them are not healthy and they are not needed. Recipes made from fresh whole ingredients are best. And I also love the way she doesn't talk down to the reader. She doesn't assume that what works for her will work for you and she tries to suggest options for how to personally tailor a Keto journey for yourself. The first half of the book is Keto information. There's a bit about Ms Vogel's health journey - it's always intriguing to hear people's stories and how they got to a place where they figured out what worked for them. And there's a lot about various ways you can try Keto to find what works for you. It took me a while to read through it but you don't really have to do that to understand the book. I found the information on incorporating intermittent fasting and how to go Keto if you are AIP particularly interesting. On AIP you can't have nightshade vegetables so there's a short section on how to manage the recipes that have those ingredients in. There's also a complete image index to the recipes at the end of the book which works a little better in the paperback version than in the ebook one but it's still usable. And there's a list of the recipes with markings to show which to avoid if you are watching FODMAPS or have intolerances to things like eggs. Very useful. There's also a complete alphabetical list of the recipes at the end of the book and a list of scientific papers which support the information Ms Vogel presents at the beginning of the book. There are also meal plans in the middle of the book for each of the three Keto paths she presents. But if all this information is too much for you, you don't have to worry about it - just get the book for the excellent recipes. Each recipe has a full nutrition panel and a photo of the finished product - all gorgeous and mouthwatering. This is by far the best book I have seen on Keto. I loved the paperback version that I bought for my friend so much that I bought my own ebook so I have a copy just for me. Worth every penny. Highly recommended.

I've been picking away at this book in my leisure and it has been a pretty cozy read. So far, I've gotten to the oil information and I've tried out some of the delicious recipes. This book is jam packed with thorough information and references. The graphics are cute and the summarizing after each chapter makes it super digestible and easy to refer back to. Tables for the win! I feel like you need to get to know Leanne's online presence before diving into this book, as she is definitely coming from a core community that she created online. And she definitely has a following. I would not have known or have bought the book, had I not followed her, watched some of her youtube videos and tried out some of her recipes. That's not to say this isn't an approachable book otherwise. I'm just saying, it's coming from a definite fan base in the keto community and it may be nice to get acquainted with her style online at first. At first impression, I had a bit of overwhelm with all the options and decisions that come with being introduced to keto and then the profiles that are discussed in the book. The other thing is the constant referring to online sources and back to her website - which I understand, but it's a bit annoying. I personally like to get books so I don't have to go on the internet all the time. So this may be a triggering book for people with attention problems and going on the internet. All that being said, Leanne's approach to keto is reassuring especially if you find you have started and might have come against some pitfalls, or you feel stuck. I really love her investigative approach, encouraging and empowering the reader to feel out their own choices. I'm very much all about the investigative approach and I need that empowerment personally. As some books can be so passionate about a certain way that they can get a bit blindsided by the fact that not everybody works that way and our psychology can make or break a diet in of itself. Leanne is very aware of this concept, and seems to take all types into mind. If you are new to ketogenic dieting, this is a good starter book. And if you already started, this is also a good place to refer back to. Keto is not an easy thing to navigate at first, but Leanne's tricks and material seems to cover a lot of basis so it doesn't have to be so tough. Overall, thumbs up! Tasty recipes, excellent information that hopefully won't go out of style too soon.

Pour tous ceux qui souhaitent commencer le régime LCHF / Keto (cétogéne) ou avoir plus d'information pratique pour en faire un mode de vie. La première moité du livre est dédié aux explications et conseils et la deuxième à des savoureuses recettes. Live en anglais bien accessible - même les explications sont très facile à comprendre et orientées pratique. Leanne fait également un focus sur les femmes et leurs besoins en particulier. Je recommande vivement pour tous ce qui souhaitent implémenter ce style de vie. Juste un petit b-mol pour ceux qui cherchent un livre de keto strict pour gérer par exemple une maladie: les recettes ne sont pas tous dans un ratio "cétogène" et nécessitent certainement des ajustements.
