Removal instructions suck so here is how I did it. *by M***E on Reviewed in the United States on February 7, 2018* I tested one on a spare IKEA shelf I had. I wiped the shelf down with a dry paper towel, peeled off the backing and stuck it to the shelf, working out the air. I let the hook sit for 24 hours at room temperature (68-70 F) and then hung a 2 pound weight on it (I know, not really stretching it limits) and put the shelf on its end so the weight was hanging. The hook held without issue for the 2 days I tested it. Since the removal directions are really bad here is how I remove the hook: To remove the hook I heated it with a heat gun (blow drier would work fine) on low until the hook was rather warm and used a knife to pull up a corner. I then slowly peeled the square up around the round button. Re-heating at least once would have made it go easier I think. Then I pressed on the hook a bit with one hand (not sure if it is necessary) and pulled up on one of the loose sides with the other hand. The hook left no residue behind and took none of the fake paper IKEA veneer off of the shelf. I would not reuse the hook again as the pad had bent from me pulling on it and the adhesive looked (though I did not test it) like it would not be as clear the second time around.
