TOPOLOGY UPDATED 2ND EDITION

Really it's a biriyani book.

This updated version is good. This book has topis in algebraic topology too. Nice!

I will start with the negative points for the paper edition. 1) The index is a joke in this Indian edition. You will get zero help from it. It looks like some kind of automated tool was used to generate the index. 2) The pages are a little delicate; you need to take extra care while handling to book. Before telling the positive points, I would suggest to any solo reader to go through Shaum's "Outline of Set Theory" it is extremely informative and helpful. Now the positive points. The entire book is designed in a very thoughtful way. Concepts are built gradually, from the very first page, from the beginning of any chapter and even through the exercises. This is very important to keep in mind. Do not miss a single line (anyways the index is a joke, you would do good to create your own index, as you read along), a single paragraph and if you are attempting exercise 9; make sure you tried all the exercises from1 to 8. Even after this you may get stuck in some exercise, but then you can always refer outside, online material, forum etc. In summary this a book on topology you do not want to miss. Although this book demands a certain level of smartness, which I may not be entirely comfortable with as I felt, I am not that smart, I definitely found it thought provoking. So definitely recommend to read.

For topology lover it's a treat

Even though it is an Indian Student Edition, the paper, print quality and binding are quite good. Also, in my opinion this edition has the prettiest cover. There is not much to say about the content. There is a reason why it is considered the de facto standard book for an introduction to topology.

It was delivered before time and print and paper quality are good. It is a prescribed book which I purchased for someone.

This is book good for Topology lessons.But as usual the packaging is not so good. It covered only a paper wrap.

The author is famous and the content is great. However, the book condition is very poor. I already know this is a cheap india version and I am not expecting the high quality in paper and printing, but the book is very dusty, creases on the cover and a few pages, just like a second-hand book instead of a new book. I would rather pay even less for a second hand one, no meaning to purchase the book in such a poor condition.

A thorough and readable book for the price, the condition however was not new, considerable damage to the corner and folding of the pages.

Comprei um livro que custa, usualmente, 600 a 700 reais - dependendo da edição, claro - por 200 reais, novo, em excelente estado e com o padrão Munkres de qualidade. Porém, a transportadora que ficou a cargo da encomenda, escolhida pela própria Amazon, deixou MUITO a desejar. 5 estrelas pelo livro, mas 0 estrelas pela transportadora. Duas estrelas só pra ficar na média

Munkres is my favorite author ever. I love his writing style and how he manages to explain deep concepts in an intuitive yet abstract way. This is a classic book, and it is also known for being the "go for" textbook in topology, so I really had nothing to add with respect to the contents. Its just the best book on the subject. On the other hand, the printing is perfect, and this edition has the prettiest cover I've ever seen. The only detail to consider is that the paper is too thin, and it feels like it is easy to damage. So if you are not a careful owner, perhaps it is not the best option for you.
