It gets hot quick & keeps boiling on low. **Q: could this pot cook rice?** A: that's a big no! Rice needs to absorb all the h20, including steam...this pot vents steam by design. The rice will not cook fully. **Q: Do you have to unplug this hot pot to shut it off, I did not see off on the knob?** A: Yes you have to unplug it because it stays in warm if you don't. Does not have turn off button. It gets your water hot very fast!!!! I'm very happy with it.
