It actually cools down!!!! and my dog loves it on hot days! He uses it all the time. I wish they made one for humans!!

Our 2 dogs love these. Nice and cool for them when warmer weather comes or I use now because their fur has growing out and they are hot.

I bought it for my 90lb husky/golden retriever mix who has an increasingly hard time cooling off as she gets older. Summers here are in the 90s and she starts panting at 65 degrees so I needed something that worked. This item is cool to the couch, which I was excited about when I first opened it up. My dog laid on it for a little while and after about 10 minutes I checked the temperature. The part that she made direct contact with was very warm, and so was she. It seems to just soak up her heat. The surrounding areas were still cold. The blanket also warms up very quickly in the sun. My dog has no preference with the blanket, her regular ones, the hardwood floor, or a carpet. There is no clear indicator that this blanket can cool my dog down. Another disappointment.

I have a German shepherd Alaskan malemute mix so she gets very hot. This blanket is nice for her she loves to lay on it. It always stays cool to the touch

UPDATE: The cat has decided he'll snooze on it for short stints (I've been concerned that his usual spots have been too warm even for a cat), so I'll give it back a star. But I'm still irritated that the dimensions aren't as advertised. Very disappointed that this won’t fit as expected where I planned to put it. I was already getting a size that wasn’t quite large enough, now it’s just “nope, too small.” I’m debating whether to return it, but the company might win this one on the grounds of “can’t be bothered.” It does feel cool to the touch, doesn’t smell chemical-y. It slips around under little paws if it’s on bare floor so I laid it on the carpet, since it’s the wrong size anyway it doesn’t matter where I put it. I’m still trying to convince my pet to lie down on it, but he seems indifferent. This is kind of a fail, mostly for the manufacturer not being able to use a measuring tape.

Our Bulldog always has to sleep on our bed, then she gets to warm and starts panting. Her first night sleeping on this cooling mat was wonderful. She got up and moved once, just to get more of her body onto the mat. This morning was so much better, we slept , she slept.

Good to help keep your fur babies cool. Fits well in crate. My dog loved to lay on it in the summer.

My boy was recently diagnosed with Cushing's, but while we were going through all the testing for that diagnosis, he was panting a LOT and got easily overheated. My mom suggested I order him something like this and I was skeptical it would work or that he'd even lay on it.. I ordered a Large size (he's a 20lb Boston terrier) because I figured if it warms up the way my human "cooling mattress" does, he could at least roll over to where it's still cool. It surprised me that he does lay on it quite a bit and every time I touch it, it does feel cool to the touch, even after he's been laying on it. No water, no freezer, no nothing. I'll give him an ice cube on it sometimes and he just goes to town on it. It is kind of flimzy and moves easily, but I think the larger size helps with that because his whole body fits easily on it and theres more room around him so he ends up holding it down himself rather than shoving any edges under him. Now that he's started medication for Cushing's and the weather has been cooler, he doesn't lay on it as often, but it's still nice to have. Sometimes if I get hot (and he's not laying on it), I wrap it around my bare arms and it cools me right down!

It's basically a cool blanket. no tech to transfer the heat and my Australian Shepherd eventually gets off and goes and lies on the tiles and/or wooden floor. Waste of money. Don't recommend.
