Same story here. Was beside myself trying to figure out how to resolve this problem after the shop was less than stand-up about how to resolve the situation. This kit worked fine to help me take my M12 stripped out pan up to an M13 to use their plug.If you have ever tapped threads before, then this kit makes it pretty easy to get back on the road with the exception of one item as noted below. If you've never tapped threads and are still feeling brave I suggest having one of the expanding rubber plugs available as a "life boat" in case everything doesn't go as planned so that you have not disabled the vehicle.One big complaint - and advice on how to resolve. This kit came with copper and aluminum crush washers. My pan that stripped was aluminum, so none of the crush washer options make sense. So this meant I needed another option. After tapping the pan up to an M13 from an M12, I didn't want to strip these new threads. A quick trip to the car parts store, a combo aluminum/rubber seal/washer and the new plug seals fine without requiring too much torque to stress new threads.
