Although inexpensive, your intended use will be important
I thought it was going to be a cheaper alternative to the liquid Tempil, but I just can’t get it to adhere to the ammo brass I’m trying to anneal. So not suited for this purpose.

Dried Up, Unusable
The first Tempistik I ordered arrived with the tip crushed so that it could not be unscrewed and the crayon was dried out and crumbled when applied to a hot cartridge case. It was returned for replacement, but the replacement was even worse. I intended to use these for testing annealing temperature of brass cartridge cases.

Completely unusable
I purchased this temp pen to use while brazing. Like many others have stated, this temp pen is complete garbage. It doesn't do anything but crumble when you attempt to use it. You can heat steel up until it glows cherry red and this thing still won't melt (it just crumbles and falls apart). To top things off, I left the temp pen in the shop overnight and came back the next morning to find that it had swollen up and crumbled into pieces. I'm sending this back.

OK, but ...
Works as advertised, but the stick is so hard it doesn't stick well to anything. The higher temperature ones are even harder. Think I'll go with the liquid version next time even though it is more expensive.

Not for smooth surfaces
I got this to use for annealing cases, thinking it may be a good alternative to the liquid. I was wrong, it is a very hard and very dry "crayon" that is better suited for marking rough surfaces than smooth ones.

Don't bother with this indicator
When I received this product the temperature stick inside the aluminum sleeve was broke into so many pieces the holder was rendered useless. I have no idea if it would have performed as designed but I know it is very brittle so not useful for my purposes. I just threw it in the trash. If you decide to try it I hope yours makes in one piece so you can give it an honest try.
