Work perfect on my 2019 vw gli, fit my speakers better than the metra 82-7806 which I have to modified to install my speakers I took it out and install this.

I had to grind a little bit of the lip to get Deaf Bonce speakers to fit. Good and strong. Would recommend!

Review is only because of fitment. (build quality looks fine). It is listed as "Fit VW Volkswagen Passat Golf/Jetta/Beetle 1999-2019" but it does NOT fit Beetle 2012 which it is shown to fit. It is at least 2" too small diameter.

Works for the back speakers in a 2005 VW beetle convertible *that has the monsoon sound system upgrade. The front door speakers are 8 inch woofers, so if replacing, be sure to get the right sized for the front doors.. at least in the specific model and year. It is possible to bypass using either for the front or back speakers if your speakers are very shallow, though regardless I would definitely recommend getting them. If you are in process of replacing the stock stereo in a 2005 VW beetle convertible with monsoon system upgrade.. it is NOT as swap and done as one may think.., you'll need a canbus adapter in addition to the wiring harness adapter..(I purchased one here on amazon that was a wire harness with a canbus added to it already and it worked great! If you don't get the adapter, you will likely have to go to the factory amplifier and completely bypass it with a hack n splice job. Replacing the stock radio is possible, and there a few great options on Amazon ... I recommend sticking with ones specifically made for your model and year vw beetle....it can be a bit of a struggle, but you will be victorious in the end... May take a YouTube video or 2 and possible a crutchfield install info search... But you will win! )

Overall the material is good for what it does. Better than OEM which was thin. The biggest issue(s) with this is that the hole alignments will likely require drilling out your existing holes and putting in new rivet screw holes. I did this for my 2004 VW Passat B5.5. Each hole to mount to my door frame was about 1/8 to 1/4 gapped inward. This means I had to take a drillbit and basically grind the holes on this mount outward 1/8th inch. There was still plenty of real-estate in the plastic towards the edge when I was done. Once that was done I had a similar issue trying to mount my Rockford Fosgate 6.5" speakers. Luckily they sat within the hole (so the inner circumference of the ring didn't hit the walls of the frame for the speaker) it nested in properly without issue. The screw holes had to be custom drilled, not the end of the world. It worked. Given it's a pseudo universal component you gotta expect these things.

The build quality is amazing, only giving it 3 stars because it would not fit in my car door even though they say there compatible. These wouldn't line up with the bolt holes and were too small for the hole in the door. I own a 2010 Jetta.
