Review: Exactly what I needed in a headlamp. - I needed a few different lighting options in my line of work. I have rechargeable spot and floodlights, I needed something small and handsfree. You look around online and see all these different options foe headlamps At one time I considered buying rechargeable batteries and then having a battery charging station in my truck. That seemed outdated to me. The charge port is unobtrusive, the light modes are simple to switch through. I have no need of a long range light so the simple, well diffused flood light works well in my application. The flashlight seems well built, just like any other Streamlight product. There is a WHOLE LOT of electronic technology in this light. You have to disable the 'Demo' mode by fully charging it. The Lithium Polymer battery is not replaceable in this model, so when you run out of juice, you have to charge it. Which means taking it off your head. That isn't a problem for me, as I use the "low" setting almost exclusively. And if I am working with this overnight, about the time the battery dies, the sun will come up. There is no indicator for when the battery is getting low. The light simply quits. Considering it weighs 1.4 ounces I wouldn't want them to put any voltage sensing circuitry on it. If you use this thing daily you may blow through the recharges on this lamp's battery. Which is supposed to be 300-400. I use it weekly, so I am expecting to surpass streamlight's warranty of 2 years. That is a nice touch, I have their Stinger DS, and I had had it rebuilt over the last 6 years owning it. They always honor their warranty with me. Overall this is a great little lamp, it does exactly what I need it to do, with no frills or extra weight. No unnecessary accoutrements or features.
Review: WELL-DESIGNED - Streamlight makes first-class products, but they tend to be a bit pricy. desertcart marked this down to under $24 and my impression is, at that price, it’s a bargain. I got the model with the pivoting hat clip, which easily snaps on and off the light. It comes with a stretch fabric band that will slide right on to the hat clip. With two ways to wear, this rig is more versatile than most. I have lots of headlamps and my basic criterion for effectiveness is whether it will adequately light up my path, in the dark, 20 feet ahead. For any more than that, I want a real flashlight. This light is going to live in my house, because I would never take a rechargeable on a hunting or camping trip, but small as it, it seems capable of delivering that amount of light. The instructions warn to fully charge the light before use, but I pushed the button to see if it worked when it arrived. The lens was pointed towards my face and from 18 inches away, it was blinding. Plugged in, it charged in 15 minutes. There is an indicator to inform you when it goes from charging mode to full-up. The instructions confirm the run time of up to 9.5 hours on Low Power, which is another feature I like. I want headlamps that would allow me to march through the night if I get stuck somewhere. More impressively, the instructions advise that, the 2-hour (High) & 9.5-hour (Low) run times will increase by 50% if you switch to the green led mode. It would have to be an emergency for me to want to use green light and this clever design requires some extra button-pushing to make it go green or to make it go into flash mode. What I want---99% of the time---is just what the basic programming delivers. A single push is all it takes to get you from Low, to High & back to Off. It is a pretty nifty light.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great Ultralight Head-Mounted Floodlight
*by S***Y on November 5, 2017*

I bought the Bandit despite already owning a focused headlight that is considerably brighter, but also considerably heavier. The focused spot, while useful for distant spotting at night, was not ideal for just walking around in the dark, either outdoors or inside. My impression is that the Bandit is perfect for that. I read some reviews that say that the headband was too thin and loose, but found the adjustable band to be perfect for holding up the Bandit, which weighs in at just over an ounce. I haven't tried the cap mount yet. I plan to use the light on low, not having any need so far for the bright setting. I tested the light for low light level operating time and got 6.5 hours from the first charge and 7 hours from the second. Possibly the operating time will increase more with recurring cycles. I also measured the output light (lux) level over the second operating trial a short distance from the light. Starting at 100%, the light declined steadily to about 12% at shutdown after 7 hours. This is not as bad as it sounds, however, because the eye's perception of brightness is logarithmic, more like a cube root of the light level, so the perceived brightness at 7 hours was more like half of the perceived brightness at the start. If the light is used up close or in dark adapted conditions at night, it provides adequate light to both read or work on things close up and to navigate safely through obstacles. The information on the paper provided with the Bandit appears to have errors. It indicates a charge time of 1.5 hours with a 1000 ma draw. I measured a maximum charging current about 200 ma while using a charger that could supply 2000 ma. Also, the charging time in both trials was about 2.5 hours. The information supplied by Streamlight on the Amazon webpage appears to be a better match with reality, indicating a 450 mah battery that requires 2.5 hours for charging. With a 200 ma charging current dwindling down to about 10 ma at the end of charge, a time of 2.5 hours is very reasonable for that mah rating.. Although I really like the light, I wish that it had a slightly larger battery to extend the usable operating time to 12 hours or so. Hopefully, it will get closer to the claimed 9.5 hour operating time as the battery gets broken in.
